Welcome to Brenau University! My name is Katey, and I'm a senior from Atlanta, Georgia. I'll be one of your tour guides today. Brenau is located in Gainesville, Georgia, about 50 miles northeast of Atlanta. A stand out among the nation's Women's Colleges, we are proud of our renowned liberal arts education, commitment to relevant professional programs of study and deep-rooted traditions.

The Wheeler House Office of Admissions

You are now standing at the Wheeler House, the Office of Admissions and the official Welcome Center for campus. The Wheeler House was once the president's home, and then it served as the Alumnae Office for several years. This building is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.

The admissions office is a great place to start your Brenau journey. Once you have applied, you'll be assigned an admissions specialist to help you through your application process. Our admissions specialists are always eager to help the prospective students and their families in any way possible.

Front Campus

Welcome to front campus, one of the most iconic areas of our school. Front campus is the home to many important landmarks. The Daniel Pavilion is inscribed with the Four Portals of Learning by which Brenau structures its academics. Given by the class of 1905, the Crow's Nest is one of Brenau's oldest traditions. Tradition states that only seniors are allowed to ascend to the top while each preceding class can only stand on the step below, leaving freshman to stand on the ground. The fountain has been a part of campus since 1880. Traditionally, if a Brenau student gets engaged, she is tossed into the fountain for good luck.

You are now standing at Yonah Hall. This building serves as a residence hall for upperclassman. It also houses Hopkins Dining Hall and Lockett Mitchell Parlor.

The dining hall offers a wide variety of meal options and our chef can accommodate many special requests.

Pearce Auditorium

Pearce Auditorium is a 733-seat, 19th century opera house. It was built in 1897 as the Brenau Auditorium, and nearly 67 years later it was dedicated to past president H.J. Pearce and renamed to Pearce Auditorium.

Pearce Auditorium hosts many campus events such dance recitals, theatre productions, the annual Miss Brenau scholarship competition, and Convocation, an inspirational formal assembly for Women's College students.

Pearce Auditorium has hosted many famous speakers. Helen Keller, Martin Luther King Sr., Dan Rather, Jane Fonda, and Maria Von Trapp have all appeared on its stage.

Simmons Visual Arts Center

The Simmons Visual Arts Center was built in 1910, on the original location of Brenau's Chapel. It houses Sellars Gallery, one of Brenau's beautiful art facilities, and it hosts various art exhibits throughout the year for the campus and community.

The top floor has been converted for offices and classrooms for Art and Design faculty, while in the basement you can find an art studio and our ceramics lab. We offer a number of different art and design majors, including studio art and art education.

Our next stop is the Barnes and Noble Campus Bookstore. It's on Washington Street, right next to the Admissions Office. Here you can buy or rent your textbooks, purchase Brenau logo items such as diploma frames, car stickers, t-shirts and sweatshirts. The bookstore has an online ordering site and also offers many promotional deals throughout the year.

The science building was built in 1962 and has seen several renovations. It houses several laboratories and classrooms, along with faculty offices for Biology, Chemistry, Mathematics, Environmental Science and Physical Science.

Here at Brenau we have a customized Biomedical concentration, which is perfect for those students interested in preparing for a career in medicine, veterinary medicine, dentistry or pharmacy.

Need a little help studying? Check out the Math SPA, or Study Place for Achievement. The SPA gives Brenau students free tutoring in both math and science.

The Fitness Center is home to our Golden Tigers Athletic Teams. Competing in the NAIA conference, the Golden Tigers have teams in Soccer, Volleyball, Swimming, Cross Country, Track and Field, Tennis, Basketball, Competition Cheerleading, Softball, and Golf. Inside you'll find classrooms and faculty for Physical Education, dance studios, aerobic studios, weight rooms, a training room, basketball court, and an A.A.U. sized swimming pool. Students, faculty, staff, and community members can all become members of the Fitness Center and enjoy the equipment and facilities.

Next up is one of the busiest buildings on campus, the Owens Student Center. The building was named after alumna Louise Hancock Owens, from the Women's College class of 1935. The first floor of the Owens Student Center includes the offices of Students Services, Career Services, International and Study Abroad Programs, Residence Life, The Center for Traditions and Greek Life, Student Activities, Dean of Students, and the Switchboard.

Student Organizations such as Student Government Association and Student Activities Board also have dedicated meeting rooms on the first floor.

On the main floor, you can find our campus Post Office, a computer lab, and our Non-Residential Student Lounge.

Classrooms and faculty offices are located on the top floor.

Crudup and VanHoose Hall

Crudup and VanHoose Hall are named after two former presidents of Brenau University. The common area of this building joins two of our freshmen residence halls for the Women's College. Dorms are set up suite-style with two students in a room connected to two other students with a bathroom joining the rooms. Each dorm comes furnished with a twin-size bed, mattress, desk, chair, dresser, and closet. To learn about additional items you can bring to your dorm room, please contact Residence Life. Each section of Crudup and VanHoose is assigned to a Resident Assistant. The RA handles day-to-day concerns and offers social and educational programming.

Sorority Circle

Welcome to Sorority Circle! Home to many sorority houses and a local spot for campus activities, Sorority Circle is always an eventful place to be. Greek life at Brenau has a long and prosperous tradition. Established in 1910, it is one of the oldest Greek systems in the United States. Brenau is one of only three women's colleges in the United States that has Greek life, and with eight sororities active on campus, Brenau has the most chapters. Another popular spot within Sorority Circle is the Tea Room. It's a great place to grab a bite to eat if you missed the dining hall hours or need a snack between classes. They offer a wide variety of sandwiches and salads, a great bakery inside Java City Coffee, and an ideal place to meet up with friends.

Named after the many trustees of Brenau University, this spacious library opened in the fall of 1988. It has many resources including online periodicals, full-text volumes, databases and internet resources. The library is also home to the Language Bistro, an oral communications laboratory styled after a Parisian street café. Take advantage of its computer labs, study carrels, and archives room. Be sure to see the Rare Books Room, which holds more than 2000 rare books and manuals, many of which are first edition.

Welcome to the Financial Aid and Registrar's Office! Everyone at Brenau is committed to the student's success, and the good news is that success can be affordable. If you want to be a Brenau Student, the financial aid office is here to assist you. If you need help with filling out the FAFSA or applying for loans, the friendly staff in this office is ready to help you start your college career. As a current Brenau student, the Registrar's Office helps you with record keeping, class schedules, and graduation. Need a transcript? Have questions about graduation? Located on the main campus, Parklane Apartments are within easy walking distance to anywhere on campus, as well as Gainesville's downtown merchants and restaurants. Each apartment consists of a kitchen with appliances, two separate bedrooms, a living room, and a dining or study room. Four students are assigned to each apartment. The furniture provided by Brenau includes twin beds, chests of drawers, and student desks with chairs. Amenities include utilities, local telephone, internet service and laundry facilities.

These apartments are only available to upperclassman, and fees on top of standard room and board prices apply. If you are interested in learning more about Parklane Apartments, please contact Residence Life.

John S. Burd Center trail

Opened in 2002, the John S. Burd Center for the Performing Arts is named after long time past president, Dr. John Burd. This building offers modern, spacious facilities for dance, music, theatre, and other performing arts productions. In addition, the art gallery supplies space for exhibits and completes the ensemble of Brenau University Galleries.

Named for long-time Brenau university trustee, John W. Jacobs Jr., the Jacobs building houses classrooms, studios and offices for the Business and Mass Communication departments.

Business students have a wide variety of major options such as Accounting, Marketing and Organizational Leadership.

Mass Communication students are well educated in all areas including broadcasting, radio, entertainment media, journalism and public relations. Jacob's is also home to our radio station – 89.1 WBCX – the Alchemist student newspaper, and Cable 95 television studio.

We are now at the Student Health Services Building. The Health Services office is a convenient service for our students. They are able to help with the patient's physical, mental, and emotional well-being.

Health Services has a registered nurse in the office during normal business hours, and they have a doctor come in once a week. Walk-in services range from a simple sick visit to a flu test. You can also call to schedule an appointment for a number of services including physicals and yearly exams.

In addition to health services, we also offer a wide variety of counseling and spiritual services. All services are free to enrolled students and employees.

Welcome to the newest addition of our campus, the Brenau Downtown Center. This is the home of many expanded graduate degree programs in physical therapy and other health science fields. In addition to Brenau's use of the facilities, the Gainesville community is also able uses this space for events and theater productions.
