Welcome to Berea College, home of the Mountaineers! Founded in 1855 by abolitionist John Gregg Fee, Berea made history as the first college in the Southern U.S. to educate all students, regardless of race or gender. To this day, the top-ranking liberal arts institution provides full scholarships to all of its students. Though most Berea students are from Appalachia, others hail from 40 states and 70 countries around the world.
