Surrounded by the rolling hills and tranquil horse farms of Wilmore, Kentucky, Asbury University, or AU is a picturesque liberal arts college known for its attentive faculty, and integrative curricula. Wilmore is just 20 minutes southwest of busy Lexington, and just minutes from the Palisades at the Kentucky River. AU offers 54 majors in 14 academic departments, several master's degrees, and a number of internship and exchange programs. Let's take a look at the AU campus!

The Hamman-Ray Science Center was built in 1963, and is home to the departments of computer technology, mathematics, and sciences. The facility is comprised of ten classrooms, ten laboratories, eight scientific prep rooms, and a number of faculty offices. You will also find the university's Department of Safety and Security in this building, which employs and trains a number of specialized security officers to protect the AU campus.

The Doddridge-Holland Student Center was constructed in 1952, and originally intended to be the university gymnasium. Students can now come here to pick up books and supplies in the enclosed university bookstore, and pick up mail and care packages at the campus post office. The building is also home to the AU Theatre And Cinema Performance program, which boasts one of the nation's highest graduate media-hire rates.

The Johnson Building is home to the campus cafeteria, which is comprised of two main wings, and can seat nearly 700 people. Students also have the option to go to the second-floor Grille, which offers a limited meal menu, snacks, and a game area. The Johnson building also offers a scenic patio area, and small Art Gallery, making this one of the most appealing places to hang out on campus.

AU's former library building was renovated in 2007, and now stands as the university's bustling Student Center. The building features a popular coffee shop, comfortable lounge and deck areas, games, meeting rooms, and club offices. Students and visitors frequent the front kiosk to pick up Asbury t-shirts or souvenirs to demonstrate their school spirit!

Built in 1910, the Hager Administration Building is a three-story structure which formerly hosted classes for a now defunct Presbyterian College. The bell tower at the crown of this building transmits charming hymns and songs that ring throughout campus. The Hager Building now contains AU's administrative offices, including the office of the President, Admissions, the Registrar's Office, Financial Aid Office, and more.

AU's Kinlaw Library is a 72,000 square foot building which houses over 100,000 ebooks, and more than 130,000 printed volumes. Opened in 2001, this three-level facility boasts a variety of modern research amenities, including 13 study rooms, a conference room, a board room, and a number of computer and academic labs. The lower level contains the rare University Archives, as well as a public reading space and work room.

Built in 1978, Corbitt Hall is home to AU's Media Communication program. Here, students can conflate media studies with hands-on practices in the building's audio and radio studios, video editing suites, and television studio. For those interested in broadcasting and entertainment programming, Corbitt Hall also contains the campus radio station, and a county-wide cable television station.

Hughes Auditorium was built in 1929, at a time when the entire AU student body couldn't fill all of its 1,500 seats. Today, these seats are spoken for, as all students come together for chapel services on Monday, Wednesday and Friday mornings, marking one of the few university activities that unifies the entire campus. The chapel features stained glass windows from the late 1920s, and a lovely Austin pipe organ.

Opened in January of 2011, the Miller Center for Communication is a 52,000 square foot building which provides AU students access to the most modern and innovative communication resources. The building contains recording and TV studios, a film screening room, video editing suites, a radio station, and a 4,900 square foot black box theatre. But this forward-thinking institution also pays reverence to the past, with its fascinating media museum, which features an expansive collection of media memorabilia, including a full-sized Gutenberg press from the classic 1939 filming of the Hunchback of Notre Dame!

The Art and Music Departments can be found in the McCreless Fine Arts Center – a two-story building filled with the a lively creative hum. Music students have access to the organ rehearsal rooms, instrumental and choral libraries, piano lab, 32 practice rooms, and 350-seat auditorium for recitals and performances. The second floor and annex contain classrooms and studios for students working with fiber, ceramic, stained glass, and other mixed-media.
