Welcome to Lakehead University's Orillia Campus, situated within Central Ontario's beautiful cottage country. Located just ninety minutes north of Toronto, the city of Orillia is nestled between the shores of Lake Couchiching and Lake Simcoe offering you year-round opportunities for culture, recreation and heritage. Lakehead Orillia's environmentally friendly, state-of-the-art campus opened in 2006. All buildings on this campus were designed and built to meet "Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design" standards. Lakehead Orillia is environmentally friendly in every way possible, with a green roofing system, geothermal energy source, water collection ponds, and much more. As a smaller university, we offer a more personal experience where you can truly realize your potential.

Simcoe Hall is the hub of the university, where you will attend all of your classes and take part in extracurricular activities. Student Central is just inside the front doors of Simcoe Hall, and is an important spot for you to visit. Student Central is your first stop for everything related to your academic journey at Lakehead. Here you can get help with course registration, academic advising, financial aid, fee payment and so much more.

The Learning Commons is a bright open space which fosters both independent and collaborative learning. The Learning Commons is often referred to as the heart of our university. This is where you will come to meet, collaborate, and share in the learning experience with your peers and even professors. Located within this area is a computer lab and many different study areas to accommodate all different types of learning. Larger workspaces are available for group study, while study carrels and quiet rooms are available for independent learning. Student-centred learning has always been at the core of Lakehead University's mission.

Lakehead's immersive Telepresence Classrooms provide high-quality, alternative options for attending classes, meetings, and conferences. The classrooms' HD video, audio and content sharing capabilities enable students and instructors to interact among multiple locations more naturally and efficiently than traditional learning environments. Our Telepresence Classrooms represent our philosophy of barrier-free learning; we encourage our students to pursue their passions and we aim to connect them to the resources required to succeed.

As Canada's #1 Undergraduate Research University, we believe that discovery, creativity, inquiry and insight are critical to the development of new ideas. Our state-of-the-art labs provide you with a safe, practical learning environment where you will be given the necessary training to become a future researcher. There are no more than 15-20 students per lab, which encourages a stronger student-to-professor relationship. This is one of the great benefits of going to a smaller institution like Lakehead University. Welcome to residence! This is our environmentally-sustainable 240-bed residence where most of our students call home. Residence features a unique, modern design where you will enjoy the privacy of your own room. Each floor contains 40 rooms, a laundry facility, kitchenette, social space, and a quiet study room. Residence is guaranteed to all direct from high-school students and comes with a full meal plan. Residence has been designed to to give you the freedom and space to make it your "home away from home," while fostering a community unlike any other. You will enjoy being mere steps away from campus, while being surrounded by beautiful open green space.

This is one of our typical residence lounges. These bright, open spaces are an ideal location for you to relax, watch TV or movies, socialize, or take part in numerous activity and game nights throughout the year. Each lounge includes a fully furnished common area, access to a sink, fridge, microwave and toaster oven as well as full access to laundry facilities. Just outside residence is a covered storage area available for you to securely store your bike.

We are now in the cafeteria which is open daily for breakfast, lunch and dinner. The food here is made fresh to order, and our friendly staff will help to accommodate any dietary concerns. At Lakehead, we want you to feel at home. Our staff will take the time to get to know your name as well as your favourite foods - this is another example of the Lakehead difference. The cafeteria is run more like an open-style restaurant than a traditional cafeteria and allows the flexibility to customize your meal choices with ease.

The Lakehead University Bookstore carries all of the prescribed textbooks, support materials and supplies for your courses, as well as a wide range of magazines and general interest books. Books are all categorized by program, which makes it easy to navigate. You can also find a large selection of quality Lakehead University branded clothing, gifts, and personal items. All profits at the bookstore go towards our generous student scholarship and bursary program.

Located in the heart of of downtown Orillia, Heritage Place is the home to our professional teacher education program. The Faculty of Education is a dynamic community that trains exceptional teachers, helps practising professionals advance their skills, and offers students the opportunity to engage in exciting hands-on pedagogical research.
