Welcome to Augusta University, a public research university located in the Garden City of the South – Augusta, Georgia. My name is Ashlyn, and I am thrilled to be your tour guide of our Health Sciences Campus. Augusta University is a student-centered research one institution and is one of only four research universities in the state of Georgia. We are home to Georgia's only public medical and dental school, and we house the largest nursing school in the state. We also own and operate two hospitals on campus, a level one trauma hospital and the Children's Hospital of Georgia. The J. Harold Harrison M.D. Education Commons keeps Augusta University on the forefront of technology. This building includes a 40,000 square foot High-Fidelity Simulation Center alongside 13 Learning Communities. Medical College of Georgia students have access to amenities such as the convenient Commons Café with a Starbucks and snack bar, a covered patio, study rooms for quiet collaboration, a kitchenette for food storage or preparation, and a library satellite desk for online textbook assistance. Administrative offices are accessibly located throughout the building to facilitate an open door policy with students and patients.

Dental College of Georgia

Augusta University houses the state's sole dental college known as The Dental College of Georgia, or the DCG. Established in 1969, the DCG now provides education and training for more than 360 dental students and approximately 60 residents per year. Since inception, we have graduated nearly 2,700 dentists who are now providing oral healthcare in Georgia and around the world. In addition to offering a high-quality dental education, the dental students at DCG have treated patients during approximately 33,000 visits each year with some traveling a distance of two hours or more to be treated by our students. Patients also receive oral healthcare from DCG residents and faculty.

Jaguar Park

To better serve our students and provide them with an academically focused living experience, we offer space for over 700 students in Jaguar Park, which allows our undergraduate and graduate students to live in a community environment. This allows our students to excel beyond the classroom experience in addition to encouraging leadership and community development in each of our halls. Oak Hall features study rooms on each floor, laundry rooms, community kitchens, multi-purpose rooms to provide a connect/live/learn experience, and cutting edge technology. Elm Hall features a variety of chat and gather spaces for studying areas and resident interaction, a full kitchen in each apartment, laundry rooms, WiFi throughout the building, and on-site parking for residents in a designated gated location. As an Elm Hall resident, you can park, eat, and live across the street from your professional training ground. The Jaguar Express has multiple routes to transport students among the university's main campuses.

Student Wellness Center

Campus Recreation is the home of our 40,000 square foot Wellness Center, which includes an indoor cushioned running track, basketball and volleyball courts, Precor and LifeFitness cardio equipment, and Cybex and Hammer Strength weight machines. Fitness classes are held 7 days a week. We offer step, spinning, Zumba, yoga, and more. Students are granted access to the Wellness Center with their JagCard, and the facility is also available to Augusta University faculty, staff, and alumni. Campus Recreation also offers Competitive Sports with a variety of Intramural and Club Sports. The Student Wellness department offers educational opportunities for students in the seven dimensions of wellness and works in partnership with Fitness and Outdoor Recreation to help students learn how to live healthy lives. The Outdoor Recreation department offers kayak rentals, GA State Park passes, hiking backpacks, hiking day trips, and a yearly ski trip.

Student Center

The Student Center is the heart of student life and is attached to the Student Wellness Center. One of Augusta University's JagStores can be found on the first floor giving students access to all of the necessary equipment needed for classes on the Health Sciences Campus such as books, lab coats, paper, etc. Also in the Student Center is the Atrium Dining Hall which offers full-service breakfast, lunch, and dinner meals as well as a Starbucks and Simply to Go.

Augusta University's research facilities continue to grow and expand as research activities increase. The Sanders Research and Education Building is one of the research buildings for academic use at Augusta University. This 83,000 square foot building houses many basic science departments and their associated research programs. Our Health Sciences campus has all of the necessary facilities to complement any clinical or basic science project a researcher wishes to conduct here, including a 24-hour investigational pharmacy service with dedicated research pharmacy staff, fully accredited clinical laboratory services, the Institutional Review Board, the Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee, and biosafety, chemical and radiation safety support. Next to the Sanders Research and Education Building, you will find Pavilion III which houses The Graduate School and the Medical Illustration program here at Augusta University. The Graduate School provides a rich intellectual, academic, and research environment for educating students to become leaders in the discovery, dissemination, and application of knowledge. The Medical Illustration program emphasizes anatomical and surgical illustration for print and electronic publication, as well as for projection and broadcast distribution.

The Robert B. Greenblatt, M.D. Library is housed in the center of the Health Sciences campus and open 102.5 hours a week. The library has study tables, open study carrels, lounge furniture, conference rooms, individual study rooms, and small-group rooms to meet student and faculty needs. Greenblatt library uses an embedded service model so that each college has a librarian with office hours within their assigned areas. A creative technology lab is available for 3-D scanning, printing, and design for student learning and research. Greenblatt Library provides access to a range of evidence-based medical resources and patient care tools.

The Health Sciences building is a $34 million facility containing five levels of classrooms, labs, and office spaces and also houses the Colleges of Allied Health Sciences and Nursing. With state-of-the-art technology, the Health Sciences Building offers simulation and body motion labs, distance-learning rooms, and a library and resources center. Programs that can be found in the Health Sciences building include Nursing, Respiratory Therapy, Clinical Laboratory Science, Occupational Therapy, Physical Therapy, Physician Assistant, and more!

The Children's Hospital of Georgia is designed to be kid-friendly and houses the largest team of pediatric physicians, specialists, nurses and staff in the region who deliver care to children for everything from common childhood illness to life-threatening conditions. The Children's Hospital works closely with the Ronald McDonald House to provide a home away from home for families to stay close and interact with their sick or injured child. The family rooftop garden and indoor playground provide children places to go outside their room for fresh air and play therapy. The hospital has its own emergency and operating rooms, labs, radiology suites, and spacious patient rooms. Augusta University students volunteer, job shadow, and perform rotations at the Children's Hospital of Georgia.

Welcome to the Georgia Cyber Center! Augusta University's School of Computer and Cyber Sciences, a designated Center of Academic Excellence in Cyber Defense by the National Security Agency, is headquartered in the Hull McKnight Building at the Georgia Cyber Center. As a junior or senior in the School of Computer and Cyber Sciences, your upper-level computer science, information technology, and cybersecurity courses will be held here. Students also have access to many benefits at the Georgia Cyber Center including: direct access to Historic Downtown Augusta's Riverwalk, an onsite coffee shop, collaborative work spaces, state-of-the-art classroom technology, a rooftop terrace, and the unique opportunity to connect and network with government and industry partners. Located on the Nathan Deal Campus for Innovation, the Georgia Cyber Center is the single largest investment in a cybersecurity facility by a state government to date. The Georgia Cyber Center represents a unique public/private partnership with academia, government and industry that includes Augusta University, the University System of Georgia's research institutions, the Georgia Bureau of Investigation and other public/private sector organizations.
