Here we are at Stamper Commons, the heart of Student Life at Stephens. Here you can meet up with friends at "The Pit," purchase some swag at Susies's, the student-run campus store, pick up your mail, and eat a meal in the dining hall. We believe in a holistic approach to wellness achieved through A Balanced Life, and you can take part in programs and activities to help you be at your best. Many of our campus traditions also center around Stamper, including Crossing the Bridge and the annual Midnight Breakfast and Stress Less Fest.

The campus comes to life at night with the recent addition of a firepit and decorative lighting on the residential quad. Donated by an alumna, the relaxing ambiance of the firepit and charming lights dangling from the mature trees offers students an open-air meeting place to recharge and make memories that last a lifetime.

Pet Friendliest Campus!

Did you know that Stephens is the pet friendliest college campus in the U.S.? Pets are our new tradition here at Stephens. You are welcome to bring your fur babies with you, and we even offer a doggy daycare. Our pet-friendly quad is home to five of our residence halls. We have many different housing options, and can accommodate what best fits you. Some halls are community style and some are suite style. And if you're not down with pets, we have res halls that are pet-free, too.

Columbia is known as College Town, U.S.A. It is home to Stephens College, the University of Missouri and Columbia College. Experience the quintessential college town, but on a small campus community. Stephens campus is in the heart of downtown Columbia, just minutes away from shopping, dining and entertainment. Stephens students have access to Mizzou's fitness center, sororities and social scene, and major college sports venues.

Stars Cafe

Our newly renovated Stars Cafe is a welcoming retreat to recharge before or after classes. Conveniently located in the lower level of the Helis Communications Center, it is just steps away from many of our classrooms and lab spaces. The cafe offers a selection of Starbucks coffee beverages, as well as sweet treats and grab and go breakfast and lunch items.

Ten Ideals

Stephens College has many beloved traditions that imbue every aspect of the student experience. The Ten Ideals, which originated in 1921, represent the core values that enrich and inspire our lives here at Stephens. These values are the core values of the Stephens College employees and students. Each year, 10 students are selected as personifications of the individual ideals. One of our greatest traditions is the annual ceremony when the Ten Ideals students are revealed and celebrated. The ideals are Respect, Courage, independence, Support, Sensitivity, Responsibility, Belief, Creativity, Intelligence and Leadership.

Nursing Simulation Center

The Stephens College Bachelor of Science in Nursing is the only direct-entry program in the region, so you can begin nursing courses in your first year. The program is designed to be completed in just three years, and total tuition and fees are almost $9,000 less than comparable programs in Missouri. Our innovative partnership with our neighbor, Boone Health, provides early access to clinical experiences with an emphasis on career readiness. Boone Health is located right next door to our campus. The Equestrian Center is located close to campus and is proud to be one of Columbia's Most Notable Properties, with its picturesque barns and horses. Our Equestrian program is known for hands-on, immersive learning, a small class environment, and faculty, advisers and mentors dedicated to your success. With a 100% career placement rate and extensive alumnae network, you will enjoy opportunities to compete and participate in horse shows and learn from visiting industry professionals. Students can customize their program of study to align with personal and professional goals.

Silverthorne Arena

Silverthorne Arena is home to the Stephens College Stars volleyball, basketball and competitive dance teams. The College is a proud affiliate of the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) and the American Midwest Conference. Stephens athletes are committed to an academic-first approach, to strike the right balance between athletics and academics. Additional athletic programs include softball and soccer. And, we are the first college in the country to field an all-female scholarship e-sports roster!

Conservatory for the Performing Arts

The Conservatory for the Performing Arts is a nationally recognized proving ground for performers and creative artists to learn how to succeed in the highly competitive world of musical theatre, television and film. Faculty here are accomplished Broadway performers and creatives who continue to work on national stages and Broadway tours. Beginning in Fall 2022, the Conservatory will accept both men and women. All Stephens students have free admission to all of the main stage and black box productions, so you can experience amazing theatre while you are here. Alumni include television and film actor Stephanie Beatriz, most recently starring in Disney's Encanto.

Firestone Baars Chapel

The Firestone *Baars* Chapel was designed by renowned Finnish architect *Eero Saarinen*, who designed the St. Louis Gateway Arch and is on the Most Notable Properties List for the City of Columbia. The chapel is iconic to the campus and is symbolic of Stephens College's openness to all people and beliefs. The chapel has unique lighting effects inside thanks to stained glass and a skylight, and accommodates 290 guests. Stephens College does not have a religious affiliation, and the space is mostly used as a meeting space for students and the community.

Hugh Stephens Library

The Hugh Stephens Library is a gathering place to study, find tutoring and support. The library has 100,000 books and is a member of the MOBIUS *Consortium*, which provides access to millions more through interlibrary loans. It offers more traditional seating options such as tables and chairs, but also has flexible seating options such as beanbag chairs and couches. The library is also equipped with computers and printers. Our Student Success Center offers tutoring, writing assistance, and workshops for our students! All ADA and 504 accommodations go through this office as well.

The Historic Quadrangle/Historic Senior Hall

When you are at Stephens, you can feel the spiritual bond to all of the women who have walked this campus since 1833. This is especially true when you visit The Historic Quad. The quad is on the south side of campus and has Historic Senior Hall, Hickman Hall, as well as Columbia and Wood residence halls. Interestingly, Historic Senior Hall and the entire quad itself are designated as National Historic Property. Also sharing this lush greenspace is the President's Home. Come join us and make history of your own!

Kimball Ballroom

Welcome to Kimball Ballroom, located inside *Lela* Raney Wood Hall. This beautiful space is the location of many college events, including Honors Convocation, December Commencement ceremonies, receptions and other gatherings. The exhibit space located on the mezzanine features a Historic Costume Gallery. All items displayed are pulled from the Costume Research Museum and Research Library. The museum comprises a collection of more than 13,000 pieces.

The Studio spaces at Stephens are always abuzz with student creativity. The School of Integrative Studies offers programs in a wide range of creative arts and humanities, from digital filmmaking to fashion design. Students with a flair for writing and graphic design can bring their talents to Stephens Life, a national award-winning, student-run feature magazine, join Creative Ink, our student-run creative services agency, or publish their writing in Harbinger, one of the top college literary magazines in the country. Crossing the Bridge

Stephens is steeped in rich campus traditions, some dating back to the college's founding in 1833. One of those traditions is "Crossing the Bridge." Each fall, new students cross the bridges at the heart of the Stephens campus to the welcoming cheers of fellow students and the campus community. Each spring, graduating students cross those bridges in the opposite direction, joining the community of 30,000+ alumnae, many of whom are gathered at the base of the bridge to celebrate the newest class of Stephens graduates.

Most of our Administrative offices are conveniently located in *Lela* Raney Wood Hall. LRW is home to our inviting Admissions office, registrar, financial aid and accounting, so you will never have to go far to register for courses, speak to financial aid officers, or take care of other business. But what really sets Stephens apart is students are always welcome to speak with college administrators. Stephens College President Dr. Dianne Lynch has an open door policy for all students and staff, and keeps a well-stocked candy bowl out for all visitors. You will always feel at home on our campus!
