Welcome to Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology--the nation's top-ranked undergraduate engineering college. As a high school student, you can spend your summers diving deep into science, engineering and math by participating in one of our many summer programs. From designing at home with Creation Crates to getting your hands dirty at our three on-campus camps, spending your summer with Rose-Hulman will allow you to create, make and tinker, working with top-notch faculty known for being the best. It's an opportunity unlike any other, where you'll learn more about your interests and be surrounded by other high schoolers who love STEM as much as you do. Lights! Camera! Lasers! Our on-campus summer programs give you the opportunity to dive deep into projects that span across many of the science and engineering fields. These students are busy combining multiple lasers to design a rainbow laser that can change color. To finish it off, they'll use 3D printers to build them into a single unit.

Is it possible for a vehicle that is solely powered by the wind to travel directly downwind faster than the wind? That's the challenge! Spend up to two weeks of your summer on campus designing, building and testing the possibility.

Speed Lake is peaceful 362 days a year, but for three days each summer the lake is filled with summer program students attempting to walk on water. Like you see here, students spend their time designing, constructing and testing a device to allow them to do the impossible with the guidance of our world-class faculty.

High school students participating in our on-campus summer programs can use their engineering knowledge to work with music in surprising ways. From creating a device to play a musical tune without any electronics to designing and building pendulum harmonographs to investigate mathematical-harmonic relationships, you'll be amazed to learn how well engineering and music go together.

Participating in our summer programs not only allows you to use your use and expand your STEM knowledge, but also have a ton of fun! Our camp counselors make every day and night a blast with themed dress-up days and nightly activities like dodgeball, capture the flag, midnight hide and seek and, of course, massive video game tournaments. That’s why our Vonderschmitt Dining Room is the perfect place to grab a healthy garden-to-table meal, relax with friends, or stock up on delicious ice cream! In addition to its beautiful floor-to-ceiling views and central campus location, the dining room is just one of many fantastic places where you can relax with friends over a meal, a cup of coffee or a cold drink.

What is life like as a summer program camper? Just imagine a place where everyone is a little like you – passionate about science, engineering and math. It’s a little shocking at first, but you’ll soon find a place filled with STEM enthusiasts can be a pretty interesting place! As a camper, you'll get a sneak peek into college life by living in one of our several awesome residence halls with other campers from all over the country and world. Each residence hall features a common area for hanging out with you fellow campers that includes things like ping-pong tables, foozeball tables, and a sitting area to catch your favorite show or play your favorite video game.

Nothing says Rose-Hulman quite like Speed Lake. It's the picturesque heart of our campus where generations of Rose engineers have had a blast swimming, ice skating, and hanging out with their closest friends! Speed Lake also provides a natural habitat for indigenous plants and fish and always reminds us of the beauty of nature no matter how busy our days become. Speed Lake reflects all of the great traditions at Rose-Hulman, including our annual Homecoming bonfire, tennis-ball golf and late-night trips for tacos. No matter where you are on campus, the beauty of Speed Lake is never far away.
