The Dover Campus Center is home to one of the busiest spots at Gardner-Webb – the cafeteria, or 'The Caf', as we like to call it. Choose from eight different food (style/type) stations. Also located in this building are essential contacts for students, such as Admissions, Financial Planning, the Registrar, and the Business Office. You can grab a spot in the student lounge downstairs, enjoy Bo's Smokehouse, or attend an event in Ritch Banquet Hall —as a student, you'll be in the DCC almost every single day.

Lindsay and Elliott Halls

Lindsay and Elliot Halls are two of our academic buildings. Lindsay is home to the school of psychological science and counselor education and world languages department, and Elliot hosts the religion, philosophy, and theology department. As a student, you'll find yourself here in fulfillment of the liberal arts core curriculum at Gardner-Webb, which includes the option to pursue one of our six foreign language offerings or delve into the academic study of the Old Testament. With over 70 world-class major programs of study, here, you'll be encouraged to pursue your passions.

Dover Chapel

Welcome to our beautiful Chapel, complete with stained glass and a 1,500-piece pipe organ. Many student-led worship events happen here as well as scheduled Worship at the Webb events, and Divinity School weekly chapel services. Gospel Choir and other music-related rehearsals are also hosted here. Filled with comfy couches, a piano, and a chalk wall covered in verses and words of encouragement, the prayer room is also located in the Chapel, serving as a space for individuals and small groups to rest and to re-charge.

Hamrick Hall

The oldest building on campus, Hamrick Hall is home to the Godbold College of Business and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The business faculty is one of the most culturally diverse academic departments as well, with representation from Asia, Africa, South America, and beyond. Hamrick Hall also has a live stock market ticker displaying market data and activity. As a business student at GWU, you'll cultivate a global perspective informed by world-class faculty and hands-on experiences.

O Max Gardner Memorial Hall

This is O. Max Gardner Hall, or as we call it, OMG – home of the music department and named after a former governor of North Carolina. In addition to classrooms and a recital hall, this building features soundproof practice rooms that are open 24/7 for students to perfect their pitch. And you don't have to be a music major to participate in many of the activities hosted by the department, like concert choir, orchestra, jazz band, marching band, piano lessons, and more. The music department is also integral in putting on one of Gardner-Webb's most cherished Christmas traditions – the Festival of Lights.

Frank Nanney Hall

The first floor of Frank Nanney Hall is home to the Noel Center for Disability Resources, which exists to serve and equip students who may need access to additional academic resources, including closed captioning, braille materials, interpreter services, peer note sharing, and more. The second floor features the Department of Social Sciences, which includes History, Political Science, and Sociology. As a student at GWU, you may also choose to pursue one of our nine pre-professional pathways such as Pre-Law.

Gardner Webb Laboratory Center

Our next stop is Withrow Hall and the Gardner-Webb Lab Center. Here, math and science majors gain hands-on experience in state-of-the-art research labs. Our students are prepared for academically enhanced opportunities like interning with police forensic departments, conducting oil spill experiments in the Gulf of Mexico, and performing chemical research in France. Gardner-Webb also offers a Pre-Healthcare pathway, equipping students for advanced education with the knowledge and skills they need to succeed.

Tucker Student Center

The Tucker Student Center is a place to get involved in any of our 60+ student clubs and organizations. It's home to a variety of offices designed to enhance your experience like Student Activities, Christian Life and Service, Housing, Academic Advising, and International Programs. Some of the best hang-out spots on campus are found right here, including the rock-climbing wall, study rooms, and a three-story deck to watch the sunset over Lake Hollifield. Grab a pick-me-up at Starbucks, have a meal at Chick-fil-A or the Tucker Food Court, and get your GWU gear at Barnes & Noble. Here, you'll also have access to multiple tutoring and career-enhancing resources.

Lutz-Yelton Convocation Center

We are now outside the Lutz-Yelton Convocation Center, or the LYCC – home to Paul Porter Arena and our student cheering section, the Dawg Pound. A stately Runnin' Bulldog bronze sculpture greets fans and visitors. Weighing approximately 800 pounds, the monumental bulldog is over 4-feet tall and more than 6-feet long. Inside, you'll find administrative offices for our 22 Division I teams. Here you can catch a basketball, volleyball, or wrestling match – all athletic events are free for students! Also located in the LYCC, the Dover Theatre hosts plays, recitals, and other performances throughout the year, including a student favorite, the Miss Gardner-Webb Pageant.

Suttle Wellness Center

Suttle Wellness Center is the heart of campus recreation. Complete with free weights, gymnasium, and plenty of equipment like treadmills, ellipticals, and stationary bicycles – there is something here for everyone. Suttle Wellness is also a fully equipped CrossFit gym and offers many group exercise classes throughout the week. In addition, there are over 60 intramural sports for students to participate in throughout the year, ranging from flag football, soccer, and volleyball to table tennis and racquetball.

John R Dover Memorial Library

Our next stop is The Dover Library, which was built in 1974 and has been a favorite student study spot ever since. Inside, there are individual study rooms, meeting rooms, conference tables, and study carrels for quiet concentration. Computers and printers are available for students to use, and our library staff offers support from the full-service reference desk. During finals week, "pizza fairies" deliver food to students who are studying hard, and a free self-serve coffee and snack area is available 24/7. University archives and numerous exclusive collections are also housed in Dover Library.

Communication Studies Hall

The Communication Studies Hall is home to the Department of Communication, Art and Design. Located here are classrooms, and studios and facilities for art, photo and video production, and a Mac computer lab. Our very own WGWG radio station is also part of the Communication Studies Hall, and has been a part of GWU since the 1960s. Students have the opportunity to get air time, create podcasts, and build audio portfolios. This 24-hour station offers programming that includes live music, interviews & more. The Millennium Playhouse, or "The Mill", hosts smaller productions and events, is also located here.

College of Health Sciences Nursing and Physician Assistant

The College of Health Sciences is home to our Nursing, Exercise Science, and Physician Assistant programs. Many students pursuing nursing receive true hands-on learning through simulation labs designed to mimic a hospital environment. Through patient simulators that react to treatment, students in nursing and the Physician Assistant program learn from experienced faculty in a small classroom setting. This building is open 24/7 to students with a swipe of their ID card.

College of Health Sciences—Exercise Science

The exercise science labs feature an indoor track and state-of-the-art equipment designed to provide hands-on learning and collaboration with faculty and staff. Many students who graduate from this program have taken careers in professional sports, health and wellness facilities, and in medical physical therapy arenas.

The Student Health Clinic is conveniently located on campus to help you stay healthy through your time here. Our caring and compassionate medical (care) providers are committed to providing resources for the overall wellness of our students. Services include first aid, treatment for minor injuries and illnesses, lab work, student athlete physicals, health education, training and support. Appointments can be made in person or virtually to meet the needs of our students.

Suite-style housing is located in University Commons. Eight residents live in one unit, with two students in each bedroom. Each resident has a bed, desk, chair, and dresser, and each unit is equipped with a kitchen, lounge area, and community-style bathrooms. Leave your quarters at home—laundry facilities are free in all Residence Halls. Spangler and Mauney halls, also featured here, offer the First-Year Living Community option, where first-year students connect and learn about campus life. Safety and security is a top priority at GWU, which is why only residents have keycard access to their building.

Athletics

Go Dawgs! Home to numerous conference champions, & post-season wins, most of our NCAA Division I teams compete in the Big South Conference and include 22 men's and women's sports. This in Spangler Stadium, home to football, track and field, and lacrosse. On game day, this place is packed with fans cheering the Runnin' Bulldogs to victory. Nearby, you can catch a soccer game in Greene-Harbison Stadium, a baseball game in Moss Stadium, or a softball game in the Brinkley Stadium. All athletic events are free for students, so paint up and sport red and black for the 'Dawgs.

Welcome to uptown Shelby. This is a charming get away for an afternoon or an entire day. From the friendly faces to the streetside restaurants, coffee shops, local stores, a farmer's market and more – uptown Shelby and the Town of Boiling Springs are both true parts of the campus community. Hiking and cycling trails, public recreational opportunities, live music and so much more bring this community to life for our students and the university family. Whether you're exploring the river at the Broad River Greenway or taking in the museums and galleries - there are opportunities for food, fun, adventure and discovery.

Welcome to the Gardner-Webb Quad. This is the central connection point for the campus community. Students will pass through the quad almost every day. You may be headed to open mic night at Tucker, playing a game of disc golf with friends, enjoying an ice cream bash or food truck, checking out life sized Jenga, or even catching gameday activities – this place provides the avenue for your personal and academic experiences all the way from orientation through Last Blast and commencement. The quad provides opportunities for campus interactions, reflection, recreation and relaxation.
