The School of Education community includes about 900 students and 50 full-time faculty members. We offer a wide range of undergraduate and graduate degree programs in teaching, counseling, school psychology, and K-12 and higher education leadership. With both on-campus and online programs, as well as part-time options for working professionals, we strive to meet the needs of diverse students—both those entering the field of education for the first time and those continuing in their careers.
Field Experiences

Innovative field experiences are at the heart of student learning. Working with individuals and families in real-world settings allows students to gain professional expertise that prepares them to take their careers to the next level. Our students are able to practice what they're learning in the classroom through internships and other immersive experiences in partner schools, organizations and agencies. The *Flanagan Counselor Education Clinic* is a state-of-the art, on-campus training facility that offers individual and group counseling to the community. The clinic offers students invaluable opportunities for leadership, clinical and research experiences—all while providing an extraordinary service to the community.
Inclusive Community

Inclusion is at the heart of our work as educators. We strive to create a welcoming environment for students from all backgrounds and experiences—a brave and safe space where all can feel supported and celebrated. Under the guidance of our associate dean for diversity and inclusion, a focus on equity and justice is woven throughout the academic and extracurricular life of the school. Through programs such as Holmes Scholars and Social Justice & Diversity Fellows and events such as Courageous Conversations and Diversity Lectures, our community is continually seeking ways to advance understanding and to support students, particularly those from historically marginalized communities.

Part of William & Mary University Libraries, the school's Learning Resource Center supports students with materials, tools and resources. Its collections include K-12 Virginia textbooks & curriculum materials as well as psycho-educational tests, reference materials and equipment. It also offers a quiet study space and a conference room that can be reserved for group meetings. Our students also make use of the Graduate Writing Resources Center, the Cohen Career Center, the *McLeod Tyler Wellness Center* and the Student Recreation Center to support their academic progress and personal wellness.
Community Engagement

We work closely with local schools, community organizations and other partners to offer our students outstanding field experiences in which they can hone their craft in a real-world setting. These partnerships also allow us to explore and test new ideas in education, developing the research that will influence the future of education. Throughout this work, we're learning from and working with our partners in the field. Here in the Professional Development Center, the school's many projects and centers host educators from across the state and nation to learn together at workshops, conferences and more.

From admissions and enrollment to graduation and beyond, we strive to support students every step of the way as they pursue their academic journey. Whether you have questions about applying for admission, your courseload, assistantships and scholarships, licensure in your field and more, you'll find the answers here in the Student Support wing of the first floor.
Faculty-Student Collaboration

With a low student-faculty ratio, the School of Education community allows students to forge deep connections with faculty, providing ample opportunities to get involved in research, outreach initiatives and professional development. Our faculty are first and foremost teachers, and they are committed to their students' success. Here on the third floor, graduate assistants and faculty work in close proximity, collaborating on work that begins in the classroom but extends far beyond to impact the lives of people in the community.
Online Programs

We offer a growing number of online programs to meet the needs of working professionals and other students who prefer an online learning experience. Using advanced learning technologies and taught by a dedicated group of faculty, our online programs offer students the same high-quality experience and personal attention that characterize our on-campus programs. Fully online programs include clinical mental health counseling, school counseling, military and veterans counseling, K-12 administration, and gifted education. Our Executive Ed.D. program allows practicing educators to move their career to the next level with doctoral degrees in K-12 administration, gifted education, international school leadership and higher education.
Student Life

The beautiful courtyard of the School of Education building is the site of many of our most beloved traditions. It hosts our back-to-school picnic in the fall and our commencement ceremony for graduating students in the spring. The school bell on the second floor balcony is rung by doctoral students upon completing their dissertations. Students gather informally for study sessions or to enjoy lunch together. Our student organizations, such as the Graduate Education Association, *Chi Sigma Iota* and the Higher Ed Student Association sponsor events, meetings and learning opportunities for students. Whether you are a non-traditional student looking to advance your career or just starting your journey in education, you'll find ample opportunities to get involved.
