Welcome to the College of Liberal Arts at Auburn University. Our college offers nearly 50 majors across the social and behavioral sciences, fine and performing arts, humanities, communication and aviation. While our course offerings are incredibly unique, we are unified in our pursuit of excellence. During your time at Auburn, we will help you achieve excellence in the classroom, in your career journey and in your personal life. A few of our students are here to kick off the tour and tell you about their experience in the College of Liberal Arts. Tichenor Hall is the home of the College of Liberal Arts, or CLA, housing the dean's office as well as student support services like academic advising, career services and student support services. Here in the Student Services suite, you can meet with a professional academic advisor who is an expert in your academic area. They will help you make a plan to complete your goals at Auburn. The College also offers robust career planning services, resume review, mock interviews and professional networking events, giving you every tool possible to step into a career after graduation.

Whether you join the workforce after graduation or attend graduate school, undergraduate research is a great way to set yourself apart from your peers. The College of Liberal Arts offers numerous opportunities to conduct research and creative scholarship and to share your work with others. In CLA, you have the ability to participate in a variety of projects across disciplines. This student is researching how different interactions, events, or environments impact the quality of a nurse's shift with a goal of preventing medical errors before they occur and to prevent burnout among healthcare workers. As a CLA student, you can apply for the CLA Undergraduate Research Fellowship, which provides financial support for a specific project for up to three semesters.

The social sciences include the Departments of Political Science, Economics, and Psychological Sciences, as well as Sociology, Anthropology and Social Work. Most of these programs, like the anthropology lab we are in now, are housed in Haley Center, which is conveniently located in the heart of Auburn's pedestrian campus. In addition to a coffee shop in the building, Haley Center is located next door to the Melton Student Center, which houses an abundance of dining options, student support services and campus involvement opportunities.

The School of Communication and Journalism is housed in Tichenor Hall and provides opportunities in Journalism, Sports Production, Communication, Public Relations and Media Studies. PR students often work with the school's student-run PR agency serving real clients in the community. Communication, Journalism and Media Studies students gain practical experience by getting involved with student media groups like The Auburn Plainsman, Eagle Eye TV and WEGL 91.1 FM. These organizations are located in the student media suite on the first floor of the Melton Student Center. The College of Liberal Arts is also home to the Department of Speech, Language and Hearing Sciences. Located on the first floor of Haley Center, the Speech and Hearing Clinic has served the campus and community for more than 75 years. Students gain real world experience by working with clients of all ages.

The performing arts encompass the Department of Music and the Department of Theatre & Dance. In both departments, students are given opportunities to put classroom knowledge into practice in a variety of performances both on and off campus. Music Composition and Technology and Commercial Music are two new majors in the performing arts. Students learn all aspects of the music industry from creation and performance to business and promotion, and they can put their skills to work in the college's commercial music ensemble, Sonic Nation.

Fine arts students spend much of their time in Biggin Hall - home to the Department of Art and Art History. Biggin Hall is located at Auburn's iconic Toomer's Corner and boasts light-filled studios, classrooms, and exhibition spaces. The department's 3D Arts Building houses studios and equipment for 3D design, sculpture and ceramics.

The Arts District is home to the Gogue Performing Arts Center and the Jule Collins Smith Museum of Fine Art. The facilities here attract world renowned artists to Auburn for performances, exhibitions and more. The Gogue Performing Arts Center, also known as the G-PAC, hosts national and international performers and facilitates connections for Auburn students to learn from celebrated professionals in their field. Recently, actress Sutton Foster and opera singer Renée Fleming hosted master classes for students at Auburn. In addition, performing arts students like those in this theatre production, have the opportunity to perform in the G-PAC's state-of-the-art Woltosz Theatre.

The Humanities at Auburn includes English, History, Philosophy and World Languages, Literatures, and Cultures. Most humanities courses are held in Haley Center or in active learning classrooms in the Mell Classroom Building. The professors who teach in these unique spaces are specially trained to engage students in an interactive classroom setting. In this English Literature course, students are exploring storytelling through tabletop games.

The Delta Air Lines Aviation Education Building is a world-class flight education facility. Auburn's program – one of the longest continually operating flight education programs in the nation – is home to some of the top pilots and aviation professionals anywhere. The Delta Building contains a fleet of seven flight simulators, including an Airbus A-320, a flight preparation and dispatch space, classrooms, and flight instructor offices, all conveniently located next to the student aircraft flight line at the Auburn University Regional Airport. Recruiters from the country's top airlines can often be found in the concourse of this building recruiting students for aviation career pathway programs - a unique opportunity offered only at an exclusive number of schools.
