The College of Natural Sciences & Mathematics is housed in nine buildings across campus. Its faculty and students drive bold discoveries in physical and biological sciences, computer science, and mathematics. Teaching and learning that occurs in the classroom is transferred into real-world research conducted in labs throughout the science complex, including the Science & Research One building. The College of Liberal Arts and Social Sciences, commonly referred to as CLASS, is the largest college at the University. CLASS has more than 70 degree granting programs in subject areas ranging from communications, economics, history and psychology to sociology to name a few. Gerald D. Hines College of Architecture and Design

The architectural marvel that is the Gerald D. Hines College of Architecture and Design, consists of four stories of design studios and a beautiful skylit central atrium. Designed by world-renowned American architect Philip Johnson, the iconic UH building opened in 1985. With programs in architecture, interior architecture, and industrial design, the college offers the only 5-year undergraduate degree program on campus. Abundant lab spaces are well-equipped with the latest in wood working, metal working, and digital fabrication tools. Off the central atrium, the Joseph Mashburn Gallery features exhibitions throughout the year. The on-site William R. Jenkins Architecture and Art Library houses a collection of approximately 125,000 books, journals, and other research material.

The Hobby School of Public Affairs is a thriving resource for public policy education and research. The next generation of public policy leaders at the Hobby School are prepared to face unique challenges in public and private sector arenas through interdisciplinary coursework, relevant research, training in ethics and leadership and experiential learning opportunities. Research at the Hobby School incorporates objective and rigorous methodologies to focus on the issues important to Texas and the nation. Students can pursue a degree in public policy, minor in public leadership or gain real-world experience at a paid internship. Professionals can earn the Certified Public Manager designation through a nationally accredited leadership training program or one of six graduate certificates in public policy.

Here in the Arts and Technology Center, fulfill your artistic vision with the latest technology. The Conrad N. Hilton College of Global Hospitality Leadership was founded in 1969 by hotel icon Conrad N. Hilton and today is among the top hospitality programs in the world. Our specialized business degree is all about experiential learning. Students can work – and take classes – in an internationally branded, full-service Hilton hotel. Our dedicated wine lab is the only facility of its kind in the country. We also have a student-run coffee shop, instructional kitchen, alcohol fermentation lab and more! Dissect a 3D digital cadaver or deliver a baby from a high-fidelity manikin, the simulation center at the Andy and Barbara Gessner College of Nursing provides hands-on clinical simulation training in a realistic environment. The Gessner College offers flexible degree programs for nurses interested in advancing their career. Students who already have a degree can earn their Bachelor of Science in Nursing through the College's Second-Degree BSN program, while aspiring nurses can complete the traditional Bachelor of Science in Nursing program at UH at Katy. Additionally, nurse professionals can build on their expertise through the Doctorate of Nursing Practice program offered at the university. Pass rates on the National Council Licensure Examination for nursing graduates are among the best in the country.

The College of Pharmacy houses state-of-the-art pharmacy practice laboratories and classrooms to train future pharmacists in optimizing therapies and safe, effective medication use in the community, clinic and hospital settings. Here in the Pharmacy Care and Sterile Products Laboratories and Simulated Community Pharmacy, Doctor of Pharmacy students learn patient care skills and techniques such as taking a patient's blood pressure, patient care simulations utilizing interactive high-tech manikins, and the science of compounding personalized therapies. The college's five floors of Health 2 also feature stadium-style classrooms, group and quiet study areas, and advanced Research Core Laboratories where researchers engage in innovative drug discovery and development projects to treat debilitating illnesses such as cancer, cardiovascular and infectious diseases.

College of Optometry

We are Enhancing Vision for Life at the College of Optometry. Located in Health 1, it is the only U.S. college of optometry featuring an on-site surgery center educating students in pre- and post-operative patient care using preeminent innovative methods and technology. Here in the anatomy lab, students use a 3D anatomy table for virtual dissections, visualizing anatomical structures much as they also do with human cadavers. Led by our nationally- and internationally-known faculty, students conduct comprehensive vision exams and manage chronic diseases and disorders for thousands of patients annually in the University Eye Institute, utilizing advanced diagnostic instruments in over 100 exam rooms and specialized testing areas.

One of the first experiences visitors have when entering the UH Graduate College of Social Work is encountering the large colorful mural facing the building's former primary entrance. Meant to evoke conversations, and questions, as well as prominently display our values, the reimagined mural by Houston artist Reginald C. Adams shares the message of social work and its commitment to dismantling systems of oppression. As the Graduate College of Social Work begins its 51st year, we are committed to moving ONWARD to achieve social, racial, economic, and political justice local to global. In order to bridge the past with our future, we are highlighting GCSW students, alumni, and community activists in a series of striking portraits by artists Anat Ronen and Sanah Brown-Bowers. ONWARD | The Next 50 Years features those committed to social justice. In each portrait, the subjects appear alongside their social justice inspirations.

Located on the second floor of the main library building, students of all majors benefit from personalized advising, discussion-based classes, a writing-intensive curriculum, and engaged faculty focused on teaching and mentorship.
