Welcome to Kansas State University, often referred to as K-State, a large public university located in Manhattan, Kansas. More than 24,000 students take classes on the 668-acre campus and the ever-growing enrollment has resulted in the addition of facilities, with 2 million more square-feet of buildings added in the last twenty-five years. Among state universities, K- State ranks first in the total number of Rhodes, Marshall, Truman, Goldwater, and Udall scholars.

Hale Library

K-State is home to an impressive six libraries, with Hale Library serving as the main one. Hale Library was designed to resemble the libraries at Oxford and Cambridge, with their "collegiate gothic" architecture. Hale Library is open twenty-four hours a day most weekdays during the school year, often with librarians on site until 10pm. While inside, you can refuel at the Bookend Café or Einstein Brothers Bagels.

Ahearn Gym

Here we are at Ahearn Gym, where K-State's volleyball, track, and tennis teams practice and play, with seating for more than 11,000 people. K-State athletes go by the name of Wildcats, and they belong to the Big 12 Conference. An adjoining natatorium houses two large swimming pools, diving boards, and a sunning deck.

Anderson Hall

Anderson Hall was one of the first buildings on campus, with construction beginning in 1875. Because it has been around for so long, Anderson Hall has served many purposes, but today it is home to administrative offices, including that of K-State's president, human resources, and public relations. Its long history, diverse uses, and gothic architecture have placed it on the National Register of Historic Places.

Student Union

The Student Union is a popular destination on campus, with 17,000 University community members passing through on a daily basis. There are sixteen food venues, as well as the campus bookstore, a hair salon, a computer store, an arcade, and a bowling alley. In addition to many organizations having headquarters here, there have been many exciting events at the Union, like Sumo wrestling, comedy shows, photo exhibitions, magic shows, and slam poetry nights.

Durland Hall

Durland Hall is part of the three-building engineering complex that took the place of the former football practice field. More than 3,000 students have chosen to pursue a career in engineering in one of the following departments housed within Durland Hall: Electrical and Computer, Industrial and Manufacturing Systems, Mechanical and Nuclear, Chemical, and Civil. The University Engineering Initiative Act seeks to further increase the number of students who go into these fields by working with the state government and other educational institutions.

Holton Hall

The Romanesque Revival building Holton Hall was constructed in 1900 and has seen numerous changes when it comes to the departments and offices housed within. Originally the agriculture building, it transitioned to become the home of vocational technology courses and subsequently the education department. Presently, it serves as the site for Student Services, the Academic and Career Information Center, Disability Support Services, and many other offices.

Seaton Court

Seaton Court is K-State's oldest building, having been constructed in 1875 as a facility for the industrial arts. Today, Seaton Court is a companion building to Seaton Hall, providing studios, shops, and classroom space for both engineering and architecture students. With the walls of Seaton Hall, those of Seaton Court form a courtyard, a pleasant place where you can take a break.

Seaton Hall

Seaton Hall houses the Department of Biological and Agricultural Engineering as well as the College of Architecture, Planning and Design. The Architecture department offers two Master's degrees with specialties including Ecological and Sustainable Design, and Design Theory. Speaking of sustainable design, Seaton Hall features a "green" roof complete with garden and stepping stones.

Dickens Hall

If you are leaving Hale Library and crossing Mid-Campus Drive, you will arrive here at Dickens Hall. Named after a Professor of Horticulture, which is the department that was originally located in Dickens Hall, today it's where you will find the Departments of Statistics and Geography. The Statistics Department supports the strong science and engineering programs of the University through important collaborative research and consulting.

Holen Courtyard

Holen Courtyard is one of the most recent additions to KSU, having been completed in 2012 to honor Dr. Michael C. Holen, who spent more than forty years here, as an Education professor and a Dean. In addition to these roles, he made many contributions to the Education Department programs and was active in the Athletic Department as well. Holen Courtyard is a landscaped outdoor area near Bluemont Hall, an Education Department building. There are tables and chairs as well as a sitting wall, all conducive to studying and socializing time.
