University Union

Welcome to the University Union, the hub of student life. Within these walls, you will find a variety of opportunities to enrich your college experience. You can tap into the many programmed events that focus on your career advancement, expanding your network, learning about new topics, socializing with fellow Hornets, or simply enjoying general entertainment and relaxation. From student clubs to campus departments, there's something for everyone being offered in the Union.

Academics

We're here at the Library Breezeway. The Sacramento State Library is one of the largest academic libraries in the CSU system. The main corridor—the Breezeway—has 47 outdoor tables with chairs and benches where you and your fellow hornets can meet to study, exchange ideas and participate in cultural events. The Breezeway also has a place for you to grab coffee and pastries, and even has an international center where you can get your passport. The library breezeway is a place to support your academic needs and enrich yourself in the diverse cultures at Sac State.

Housing

On-Campus Housing has two beautiful housing locations, North Village and Hornet Commons. At North Village, you can live among 2200 students and reside on the north end of campus, adjacent to the beautiful American River. North Village is comprised of American River Courtyard, Desmond, Draper, Jenkins, Klamath, Riverview, and Sierra Halls. The residence halls sit in a horseshoe fashion around a central quad and dining commons with mature trees throughout. At Hornet Commons, you can live among 1100 students, sitting at the south end of campus surrounded by redwood trees located near Highway 50. Hornet Commons is comprised of Alder, Aspen, Birch, Cedar, Cypress, and Spruce Halls.

The Well

Here at Sac State, we are dedicated to your health and wellness, and many of our wellness services are hosted right here, in the Well! The Well is packed with resources, facilities, and classes for your use. With state-of-the-art fitness equipment, a full pharmacy, cooking classes, one of the tallest rock walls in the CSU system, and so much more, the Well is the one-stop shop for all things wellness.

Aquatic Center

Come out to the Sacramento State Aquatic Center and enjoy the LAKE LIFE! Sitting along the scenic shore of Lake Natoma, our center offers you hands-on classes in sailing, windsurfing, rowing, water skiing, power boating, and more. Explore the lake, take in the wildlife and beauty, or relax on the beach. We offer a variety of rental equipment including paddleboards, kayaks and canoes! There's something for everyone at the Sac State Aquatic Center.

Hornet Stadium

Here we are at Hornet Stadium, home of our D1 football team. Seating over 20,000 people, the stadium hosts many events throughout the school year from the Causeway Classic, the legendary football match between Sac State and UC Davis, to other athletic events like track and field. Hornet Stadium has also served as the site of the U.S. Olympic Trials and several NCAA outdoor championships.

Affinty Centers

Now we are in one of our many affinty centers. Sacramento State's equity and affinity centers are dedicated spaces that aim to provide a welcoming environment for all students. The centers also serve individuals facing systemic challenges and discrimination, so they can come together, share experiences, and find solidarity. The centers promote success through resources and tailored one-on-one support; they also help students learn about themselves and others and build long-term social connections.

Planetarium

Explore outer space in Sacramento State's own Planetarium. Not only are several astronomy classes taught within the Planetarium, but public shows are also held every month. Almost all shows are hosted by Sacramento State faculty members from the Department of Physics and Astronomy and feature stunning images of earth, our solar system, galaxies, and beyond. At the Planetarium, you can explore the cosmos and engage with science like never before.

College of Arts and Letters

The College of Arts & Letters enrolls nearly 4,000 students and is comprised of 10 departments offering 30 baccalaureate degrees, 24 minors, 15 master's degrees, and one joint doctorate. Because of Arts & Letters commitment to General Education and core academic requirements, almost every student at Sac State will take classes in Arts & Letters. The college is committed to "graduation with purpose," and collaborates with local, regional, and campus organizations to prepare you for your future after graduation. Arts & Letters is not only a college, it's a regionally-recognized arts organization that offers over 200 concerts a year, exhibitions, films, theatre and dance.

College of Business

The College of Business (COB) has been AACSB-accredited since 1963, one of just 5% of the world's 16,000 higher education institutions to have earned this designation. The COB is composed of six departments, and offers one undergraduate degree (BS in Business) with 10 concentrations, a Business Honors program, and 6 graduate degrees. The college has established itself as a leader in innovative programming, such as Business Analytics, Cybersecurity Management, and Digital Marketing. It also has a strong reputation in quantitative business topics, including Accounting, Finance, and Analytics. The COB's dedicated Office of Student Engagement provides excellent support to you and your fellow hornets, including advising, tutoring, professional development, networking, and 300k+ in scholarship opportunities.

College of Education

The College of Education offers a diverse range of academic programs, serving nearly 5,000 major and general education students. At the undergraduate level, you can pursue degrees in Deaf Studies, Career and Technical Studies, and Child & Adolescent Development. The college offers 10 master's programs, including Counseling, School Psychology, and Educational Leadership. We also offer a Doctorate in Educational Leadership. Additionally, the college provides five Master of Arts in Teaching programs with embedded credentials. The focus is on preparing equity-minded educators and leaders committed to social justice, inclusion, and driving change in culturally and linguistically diverse educational settings. The College maintains an extensive network of partnerships throughout the region.

College of Engineering and Computer Science

The College of Engineering & Computer Science at Sacramento State consists of five departments: Civil Engineering, Computer Science, Construction Management, Electrical and Electronic Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, and a shared Computer Engineering program. It offers six bachelor's and six master's degree programs, with enrollment exceeding 5,000 students, ranking it the third-largest college on campus. The college awards nearly 1,000 degrees annually, achieving an 85% job placement rate within six months of graduation. Notably, the construction management program maintains a perfect 100% job placement rate. Each semester, over 125 employers participate in internship and career fairs. Graduates are often promoted into leadership positions in their respected professional communities.

College of Health and Human Services

The College of Health & Human Services enrolls over 7,000 students and is home to the largest major on campus, Health Science. The college has sixteen undergraduate majors and nine graduate programs and is home to two of the three doctoral programs on campus. We are home to the Center for Health Practice, Policy, and Research; and Folsom Hall, which includes eight community clinics. Our Law Enforcement Candidate Scholars' program partners local and state law enforcement agencies in California with their neighboring communities. HHS's Center for African Peace & Conflict Resolution also provides services for agencies, governments, institutions, businesses, civil society and community organizations through training, education, research, and intervention.

College of Natural Science and Mathematics

The College of Natural Sciences & Mathematics enrolls over 2,000 students in its undergraduate and graduate degree programs in biology, chemistry, geography, geology, physics and math. The college's programs are distinguished by their focused, hands-on learning through classroom, lab, field, and research experiences. The college's Summer Undergraduate Research Experience supports students in a 10-week paid summer research experience. The Center for Science & Math Success, established in 2015, serves as a hub for STEM education research and faculty professional development. The center also houses many of the college's signature student support programs, where you can seek financial assistance, peer mentoring, supplemental learning, professional development, research opportunities, and leadership skills development.

College of Social Science and Interdisciplinary Studies

The College of Social Sciences and Interdisciplinary Studies enrolls over 5,000 students in our undergraduate and graduate degree programs. Our curriculum examines human society through the frameworks of social justice, policy, mental and physical health, culture, and social behavior. Our programs include the Anthropology Museum, which offers research experience and community engagement; and the Asian Studies Abroad program, which connects students to scholarship opportunities throughout Asia. The college also supports a Model United Nations Program for students, hosts the Teacher Preparation in Liberal Studies and Social Science, Family & Consumer Sciences, Accredited Dietetics Preparation and Internship Programs, a nationally recognized Gerontology Program, and a nationally ranked Applied Behavioral Analysis Program.

DOCO/Downtown Sacramento

Located in the heart of Sacramento, the downtown commons is packed with attractions, art, and entertainment. At night, the colorful downtown bursts with life and activity; music and laughter. DOCO is where the locals spend their weekends catching up with their friends and visitors come to experience all things Sacramento. DOCO is the spot in Sacramento for you to make new friends, shop, eat, and explore the night life.

Guy West Bridge and Bike Trails

Named after the first president of Sacramento State, the Guy West Bridge is the beautiful pedestrian and cycling-only suspension bridge connected to campus. Spanning across the American river, the mini golden gate bridge connects the university with the American River bike trail and the local neighborhood. The American River Bike Trail follows the American River from Old Sacramento to Folsom Lake. It is an extremely active and popular spot in the community and provides easy bicycle commuting opportunities for you to and from campus.

Riverfront Center

Welcome to the Riverfront Center and quad; a place where you can eat, study, connect, and relax. The center hosts many eateries, affinity centers, and study spaces. Grab lunch with a friend, enjoy a fresh cup of coffee, and bask in the warm Californian sun. The Riverfront hosts not only food and study spots, but support centers too like the Dreamer resource center and the Serna center. Out here in the quad, you can sit in the rose garden, catch a frisbee in the lawn, or even bump into the hammock club.

Located only 15 minutes from campus, the State Capitol building serves as a symbolic and functional hub where crucial decisions are made, shaping the lives of millions.
