Welcome to the virtual tour of our healthcare programs at Central New Mexico Community College! Today we want to share with you some of the programs that CNM offers to help you get started on a rewarding career in healthcare, and share some our our most amazing classrooms, labs, and campus spaces. Our state-of-the-art healthcare classrooms are some of the best facilities to learn in New Mexico, and we look forward to seeing you in person at one of our campuses!
Our first stop on the tour is one of our most popular programs: Nursing! CNM offers an Associate of Applied Science in nursing that takes about two years to complete. Graduates from this program will be prepared to take the nursing licensure examination, commonly known as the NCLEX.

Respiratory Therapy

Welcome to our Respitory Therapy classroom. Respiratory therapists treat, monitor and evaluate patients' cardiopulmonary function, which is all things relating to the lungs and heart. They perform diagnostic testing and maintain life-support systems for patients in critical care settings. Respitory therapists were some of the most important heroes of healthcare during the Covid-19 pandemic.
Patient Care Technician

This is where we teach classes for our Patient Care Technician Program. Once completing this program, graduates go on to jobs like Home Health Aide, Psychiatric Aids, Nursing Assistants, Personal Care Aides, and other patient support careers. Students in this program learn how to care for patients in an acute care setting, learning skills such as sterile techniques, placing EKGs, and other procedures related to caring for patients.
Dental Assistant

This is our Dental Lab! Our Dental Sciences programs help students prepare for a career as a dental assitant, working on a private dental offices, clinics, or for dental supply companies, laboratories, and more. Our dental assisting program helps students prepare for their national board exams and takes approximately four terms to complete.
Pharmacy Technician

Let's check out our Pharmacy lab! In this classroom we teach students the skills they need to become Pharmacy Technicians, who assist pharmacists in preparing and distributing medications, maintaining patient records, and other key tasks in a pharmacy setting. Pharmacy techs work in a variety of settings, including hospitals, drug stores, mail order services, and special pharmacies.
Electroneurodiagnostic Technician

In this classroom we train students in the *Electroneurodiagnostic Technology (ENDT)* program (say that three times fast!). This program teaches how to evaluate the function of the nervous system, provide appropriate patient care, and maintain equipment. Earn an Associate of Applied Science or a post degree certificate and pursue work as an EEG Technologist. EEG techs assist physicians in treating neurological and seizure disorders and are key members of patient care teams.
Medical Assistant

This is our medical assistant classroom! Our Medical Assistant Program provides students with the knowledge, skills and professional behaviors required for entry-level positions as a medical assistant. Medical assistants provide a number of routine healthcare services in settings such as clinics, doctors offices, and other healthcare agencies. The field of medical assisting is expected to continue to row 18 percent from 2020 to 2030, meaning lots of job openings for graduates in this field!
Physical Therapist Assistant

Check out our Physical Therapy lab! Our Physical Therapy Assistant (or PTA) program helps students prepare for jobs in physical therapy clinics. PTAs provide physical therapy services working in partnership with Physical Therapists. PTAs help patients of all ages with health-related conditions that might limit their ability to move and perform functional activities in their daily lives.
Radiologic Technology

Welcome to the Radiology Lab! Our radiology technology program prepares students for careers as a radiologic technologist or technician. With technology in this area of medicine changing rapidly, radiologic technicians have a lot of opportunity to continue to grow their careers. Upon the completion of our program, you'll be prepared to work on a healthcare team to perform a wide variety of diagnostic and therapy procedures.
Diagnostic Medical Sonography

The last stop on our tour is the Diagnostic Medical Sonography lab. Our Associate of Applied Science in DMS teaches the use of high-frequency sound waves, such as ultrasounds, as a diagnostic tool to view the human body to aid in the diagnosis of illness. Students leave this program ready to take industry exams to apply for jobs as a Sonographer in a healthcare setting.
