Chapman University’s Harry and Diane Rinker Health Sciences Campus is ideally located in Irvine, California, just 15 miles from Chapman’s Orange Campus. The Rinker Campus is home to Chapman’s School of Pharmacy and several graduate programs within the Crean College of Health and Behavioral Sciences. The Rinker Campus was designed to embody our forward-thinking inter-professional approach to educating tomorrow’s healthcare professionals and supporting interdisciplinary research. This technologically innovative campus promotes inter-professional education and boasts the latest high-tech learning and research tools. The Health Sciences Study Commons, also known informally as the Rinker Library, is a central place for all Rinker students to use for research and studying. The Health Sciences Study Commons boasts many resources including 13 study rooms, 20 study carrels, a dedicated quiet study area, printers, scanners, computers, and a dedicated Health Sciences Librarian to assist with research and guidance. You’ll find a robust print collection with over 500 books and materials with an emphasis on health sciences. Also, there are often rotating art exhibits shown year round in the Study Commons.

The Student Lounge is an informal community space for all students to use. Students can enjoy a fully-stocked café, the nearby recreation room, and ample, casual seating. This area allows students to relax and socialize with their classmates, grab a snack or drink, or take a break in between classes. This welcoming space is easily accessible from many of the classrooms and labs at the Rinker Campus.

The labs and classrooms at the Rinker Campus are outfitted with the latest, state-of-the-art learning and research tools. Our Active Learning Center is a flipped classroom that comes equipped with wireless microphones and flat-screen monitors at each table. It also has various cameras and 3-D projection screens that help students visualize lecture materials. All of the classrooms, labs, and research spaces at the Rinker Campus are designed to promote a collaborative and interprofessional environment and all campus technology is integrated with AirPlay, allowing for seamless sharing and collaboration among students and faculty.

Our Communication Sciences and Disorders program is a rigorous, 2 year program that prepares students to become Speech-Language Pathologists. Among it's many facilities is the Adult Learning Lab, a specialized environment for graduate student clinicians in the program to provide free diagnostic services to adults while receiving personalized supervision by our CSD faculty. This specialized lab provides convenient, on-campus clinical education for our graduate students. In addition to the Adult Learning Lab, the CSD program also offers graduate students other opportunities to train and work with individuals of all ages, with a variety of disorders, and prepares students for clinical or supervisory positions in health care and education.

Our Doctor of Pharmacy program is a 3-year, accelerated program designed to prepare students to become pharmacists with a passion for human health. The program uses innovative flipped-classrooms to deliver materials in a way that is more immersive than standard lectures. Beyond the classroom, students have the opportunity to take advantage of experiential education to practice their skills and apply them in various direct patient care environments including our lab spaces. This type of education and experience prepares our students to become expert pharmacists who work well alongside other healthcare professionals and can provide the best possible care to patients.

Students in our Pharmaceutical Sciences programs have access to top-of-the-line research tools and facilities and access to expert faculty. Among the various specialized labs and facilities our Pharmaceutical Sciences students can utilize are Analytical Core Facility, Structural Biology Core Facility, Social and Administrative Sciences Computational Facility. Students are trained on the correct use of basic and advanced analytical instrumentations like Mass Spectrometers, Microplate Readers, Real-Time PCR machines, Ultra-Centrifuges, X-ray diffractometer, and NMR spectrometer among other laboratory equipment. Our students participate in student research during their time in the program. Our research facilities, equipment, and world-class personalized education prepare our students for successful careers in pharmaceutical or related industries.

Our Department of Physical Therapy has been continuously accredited since 1928 and is the longest running DPT program in the U.S. The motion analysis lab is a 3,700 square foot space equipped with ten-camera motion analysis system, two force plates and sixteen channels of wireless *electromyography. The system enables quantification of all aspects of movement from standing or walking to elite athletic maneuvers. Research enhances the understanding of mechanisms underlying injury and disease and quantifies improvements in movement in response to rehabilitation. The research participant has been instrumented with electromyography electrodes and motion capture markers as students examine ground reaction forces, joint range of motion and muscle activation.

Chapman’s Doctor of Physical Therapy students have access to cutting-edge technology, featuring our state-of-the-art Grail Lab equipped with 180 degree virtual reality motion analysis system, an instrumented treadmill with 6-degrees of freedom, 10 integrated cameras, and EMG systems. This is a fully functional research lab focusing on rehabilitation of neurological and *musculoskeletal disorder patients, which is capable of evaluating the effectiveness of prosthetic or orthotic device and surgical outcomes. The lab also focuses on research to improve quality of life for stroke drivers using driving simulator technologies as they utilize EEG for assessment of cognitive loading during driving.

Students in our nationally accredited Physician Assistant program receive hands-on practice and training using state of the art equipment and technologically advanced labs like our Patient Evaluation Suite, comprehensive exam labs, and emergency simulation room. Our facilities are equipped with patient exam tables, multiple simulation stations with mannequins and equipment to provide an interactive learning environment for students to practice both physical examination and clinical procedure skills. PA students learn, practice, and refine physical exams, clinical skills, and patient care simulations under the supervision of our experienced PA faculty
