Welcome to UNE Morocco, the University of New England's Campus in Tangier Morocco. This one-of-a-kind facility offers courses for students from any academic major, and is the only study abroad campus owned by a U.S. university that is specifically designed to support semesters abroad for health professions and health sciences majors. Located in the heart of the international crossroads city of Tangier, the campus serves as a base from which students can explore the history, beauty and diversity of Morocco.

The first floor of the academic building also features classrooms, a large conference room, and a beautiful tea room.

The 200-seat auditorium is equipped with state-of-the-art sound and lighting that is all managed from a professional control booth in the rear. In addition to serving as a learning space for students, this beautiful auditorium is the location for the University's Tangier Global Forum lecture series, and for theatrical and musical events, all of which are open to the public.

Here on the second floor of the academic building, there are several modern lab facilities. These include our physics lab, microbiology and neuroscience lab, and the organic chemistry lab. These labs, and the courses they enable, make it possible for science and health professions students to study abroad at UNE Morocco without falling behind on the requirements of their major. UNE Morocco offers courses suitable to most academic majors, yet this special opportunity for science and health students is especially unique.

Moving up to the roof of the academic building, we have patio space for studying, relaxing, or just meeting up. From here students can enjoy views of the local neighborhood as well as the campus gardens and residential building. Also visible from the roof, right next to the building lies the blue sports court where students can play basketball, volleyball, and more. Nearby, students have access to use the pool of the neighboring American School of Tangier.

The ground floor of the residence hall is the cafeteria, which serves three meals a day, but it's always open for studying or just grabbing a snack. The cafeteria serves a nice balance of interesting regional cuisine, European fare and American favorites. The back area features a sofa lounge, and makes a great place to watch movies or socialize. The long wall of windows and doors opens out onto a patio with extra chairs and tables.

Upstairs is where we have the dorm rooms, which are super comfortable, each with its own closet, desk, bed, tiled bathroom and small balcony. The spaces are clean, modern, and comfortable. Depending on the number of students spending the semester, rooms are offered as singles or doubles. Check out the hotspots to get a better view of the bathroom and closets, and also of the nearby fitness room.

Tangier is an international port city on the Northern tip of Morocco, famous for its cultural tourism and as an important economic hub for Morocco. The city has a rich and unique history as a cultural crossroads right at the Strait of Gibraltar, and it is just eight miles across the Mediterranean Sea from Spain. From campus, students have easy access to cafes, restaurants, and shopping as well as fascinating historical and cultural sites around Tangier.

Students also take excursions outside of Tangier, within Morocco and beyond. In past semesters, UNE has organized group excursions to fascinating Moroccan cities such as Marrakesh and Chefchaouen; to cultural and historical sites; and to beautiful natural areas — from the Sahara desert in southern Morocco, to the snow-peaked Atlas mountains. Many students also take personal trips within Morocco, or to destinations across Europe via short-haul airlines that fly out of Tangier International Airport.
