Living Learning Center

Ohio University is a residential campus with more than 30 residence halls across South, East and West Greens. Students live on campus for their first two years, providing an important opportunity to form lifelong friendships and take advantage of nearby important campus resources. The Living Learning Center, or the LLC, houses Ohio University's Department of Housing and Residence Life, the unit responsible for oversight of residence halls. The LLC is home to several study spaces and meeting rooms for students. Also located in the LLC is the Counselors-in-Residence office, a program that places professionally supervised mental health clinicians directly into the residence halls to address mental health needs of students and staff.

South Green

South Green, located near the Hocking River and the bike path, is home to 14 residence halls, featuring several different styles of housing including mods, suites and traditional style. South Green also features numerous large, outdoor recreation areas such as Paw Print Park, a designated hammock space and event space, and South Beach, an expansive area with sand volleyball and basketball courts. Nelson Court is the main dining court on South Green, featuring options at a variety of themed food stations with ever-changing menus. South Side Espresso Café and Nelson Market provide the convenience of a neighborhood coffeeshop and market.

Pickering Hall

As part of what is commonly referred to as the Front Four, a complex of four similarly designed residence halls, Pickering Hall stands at the front of South Green. The building houses students in singles, doubles and triples but is most loved by students for its two-room quad option, a unique setup with designated sleep and study areas within one four-person room. Lounges throughout the building give students ample space to study and socialize. Pickering is home to gender-inclusive housing options and single-user bathrooms.

Hoover House

Hoover House offers a unique living experience. Designed in mods, which are clusters of rooms that share a living area and bathroom, students benefit from the living room style feel and close knit community. Each mod houses 12 to 18 students. All of the rooms in Hoover House are single and double rooms. Hoover House offers a small community kitchen for residents' use and is home to the LGBT Living Experience.

Carr Hall

Carr Hall, named for Arthur Carr who is believed to be the first African-American student athlete at Ohio University, opened in 2015. Housing second-year students in a combination of singles and doubles, Carr Hall is designed suite-style, in which two rooms are connected by a shared bathroom. Each room has individual seasonal temperature controls. Carr Hall has a multipurpose area, where students can study, socialize and attend events hosted by their in-hall staff and hall council throughout the year. There are also lounges throughout the building, a community kitchen and a laundry room.

East Green

Home to 14 residence halls, East Green provides an idyllic backdrop to the residential experience with tree-lined streets and outdoor space. All residence halls on East Green are traditional style with shared community bathrooms. Some halls have their own laundry facilities while others are served by a neighborhood laundry center in Gamertsfelder Hall. East Green is near many academic buildings and is just down Jefferson Hill from College Green and Uptown Athens. Dining on East Green includes Jefferson Marketplace, which offers a variety of fresh, local and global products. Students can pick up groceries, get a cup of coffee on their way to class or meet up with friends over sandwiches from Brick City Deli.

Washington Hall

Recently renovated, Washington Hall houses students in single, double and triple rooms with shared community bathrooms. In addition to lounges and study areas, Washington Hall features a lobby with a piano that students are invited to play. Washington Hall houses students from the Honors Tutorial College and OHIO Honors Program. While students are not required to live in Washington as part of their honors experience, many enjoy living and studying with their peers while also participating in specialized out-of-classroom events and programs. Washington Hall also features gender-inclusive housing options.

Lincoln Hall

Lincoln Hall is home to the Fine Arts Residential Learning Community, which offers unique academic and creative opportunities for students from a variety of fine arts interests including dance, music, theater and art. Lincoln Hall features dance, music and art studio space and flexible multipurpose rooms. The hall is conveniently located across the street from Putnam, Seigfred and Glidden Halls, which house the schools that comprise the College of Fine Arts.

Jefferson Hall

Jefferson Hall houses first-year students primarily in single, double and triple rooms. The residential living area is on the upper floors of the building, accessible only to residents and their guests. The first floor of the building features the Jefferson Marketplace and the East Green mail room. Also located on the main floor is the Jefferson East End, where students can take advantage of study spaces, meeting rooms, a nine-screen game room and a reading room. There is a large multipurpose room that hosts events and may be reserved by student organizations.

West Green

West Green is home to eight traditional-style residence halls with shared community bathrooms. West Green is located near Baker University Center, which is accessible by a pedestrian passageway, and University athletic fields and facilities. Students participating in 1804 Scholars, a residential honors program, live on West Green in Boyd Hall. Dining on West Green is located in Boyd Hall and features The District, which is a dining court offering fresh options daily and changing menus at a variety of food stations, including one dedicated to special diets and allergy accommodations. Also located in Boyd Hall are Smooth Moves smoothie shop and Boyd Market, a convenient place to pick up a snack or your weekly groceries. West Green is also home to the Commuter Lounge, located in Bromley Hall.

James Hall

James Hall houses students in mostly double and triple rooms. Its recently renovated lobby showcases true Bobcat spirit and is a place where residents enjoy studying and gathering. James Hall also features a large outdoor patio behind the building, where in-hall staff host events and activities throughout the year. James Hall has a community kitchen available for residents' use. Because of its close proximity to athletic facilities, James is a favorite living experience for OHIO's student-athletes.

Ryors Hall

Conveniently located near West Green's dining options, Ryors Hall houses students in singles, doubles and triples. The Ryors Hall lobby was renovated in 2019 and is frequently used for activities and events in addition to being used for studying. Ryors Hall is home to the West Green mail room and is also located adjacent to Treudley Hall, which houses the laundry center for West Green.

Convocation Center

While most people may think of the Convocation Center as an athletics venue, it also features a residential area. Students who live in the Convo are housed in quads, which are situated in pods. Each pod contains four quads, where students share a common space and recently renovated single-user bathrooms. This unique format provides the largest square footage rooms of any residence hall on campus. In addition to study rooms throughout the building, the Convocation Center features its own laundry room for residents' use.
