Ohio University's School of Theater is built around experience. Committed faculty artist mentors encourage the exploration and tenacity that develops bold artists with unique voices. To truly thrive in the theater, one must explore the space, take risks in a supportive environment and immerse oneself in the art that happens in front of the curtain and the operations behind it. Students gain valuable hands-on experience in all facets of theater, from playwriting to the costume shop to the props shop to the stage. Through acts of storytelling and performance, Ohio University's School of Theater is committed to the development of the highest quality theater artists and scholars.

The School of Dance celebrates diversity, builds community and encourages critical dialogue through practice and performance. Our modern dance approach prepares students for bold, creative professional careers through a comprehensive foundation in choreography and performance with an understanding of the theory and history of dance. Collaboration through movement and feeling connects our students, working alongside faculty and visiting artists. The art of movement is in our every breath. We're diverse thinkers, researchers, teachers, collaborators — always stretching forever forward. College of Fine Arts students, including dancers, are supported by the Clinic for Science and Health in Artistic Performance, where licensed athletic trainers provide health and wellness advice and treatment at no additional cost.

The School of Film offers a unique educational environment where students are immersed in the study of film as an art form, a dynamic cultural force, and a means of expressive storytelling. Classroom and filmmaking experiences are supplemented by engaged one-on-one work with the film faculty to establish a rigorous hands-on production experience and intensive study of the history and theory of cinema. Students get hands-on experience making films representing different genres and can get involved in the Athens International Film and Video Festival, an annual event presenting the best in international film.
