SFU Vancouver's Harbour Centre, once a department store, now hosts classes for academic departments like Publishing, Public Policy, Gerontology, Urban Studies, International Studies and Liberal Studies. All Vancouver campus students can visit the Health Clinic in Harbour Centre for medical and counseling services. The campus also offers free wellness programs, including yoga and fitness classes. Harbour Centre has bright study lounges, some ideal for group study and some that are bookable in advance. The Simon Fraser Student Society provides additional study spaces and programming from student clubs. SFU Lifelong Learning, located here, offers courses and programs for professional and personal development, helping learners thrive in a fast-changing world.
The Samuel and Frances Belzberg Library, the downtown Vancouver branch of SFU Library, offers workshops, consultations, study spaces and access to library collections and equipment like laptops and phone chargers. Get help from research experts or by requesting in-depth consultations with subject area librarians. You can access thousands of online journals, books and databases via the SFU Library Catalogue, and also request digital delivery of book chapters or hold print books for pick-up at Harbour Centre. The SFU Library's Student Learning Commons provides learning and writing support, primarily for undergraduates, including English language learners. With access to computers and private study rooms, the library provides supportive resources for students.
SFU's Segal Graduate School of Business Building, centrally located in Vancouver's business district and close to SFU's other downtown centers, is a former bank that combines classic architecture with modern technology, and contains a variety of comfortable classrooms, study spaces and meeting rooms. This building is home to many of our Beedie School of Business graduate programs, In these programs, you'll engage with global business challenges and local issues, working on practical solutions. The collaborative environment of the Segal Building supports questioning and exploring new ideas, giving students tools to advance careers and make a meaningful impact.
The SFU Charles Chang Innovation Centre combines an institute for social and entrepreneurial innovation with graduate student housing. The Chang Centre helps all SFU students activate their entrepreneurial mindset through courses, certificates, inspiring instructors and outstanding professional mentors. Experiences here help you build your career and create the change you want to see in the world. The Chang Institute also supports entrepreneurial and innovative campus clubs to build community, take on projects and achieve goals. Graduate students can live at the Charles Chang Innovation Centre, setting them in the heart of downtown Vancouver and the SFU Vancouver campus community – an exciting urban centre, full of nightlife, art and restaurants.
SFU's Goldcorp Centre for the Arts, located in Vancouver's iconic Woodward's building, features several performance and presentation spaces for screenings, visual art exhibitions, dance, music, and artist talks. The Centre includes The Djavad Mowafaghian Cinema, a 350-seat theatre with a state-of-the-art projection and sound systems for student films, festivals, community events and musical performances. It also houses the Fei and Milton Wong Experimental Theatre, one of Vancouver's largest black box spaces, dedicated to contemporary dance, theatre, concerts and other performances. The building's art gallery hosts many timely cultural and artistic events throughout the year.
The Morris J. Wosk Centre for Dialogue connects SFU with the community, encouraging shared understanding and addressing societal challenges through dialogue and engagement. It supports educational opportunities to link classroom learning with community experience helping to develop skills for societal improvement. Similarly, SFU Public Square facilitates workshops, debates, and discussions to promote equitable and sustainable solutions to complex issues. These initiatives encourage collaboration and provide opportunities for students to engage deeply with real-world problems and diverse perspectives.
