We create opportunities for students to engage outside the classroom via travel study, undergraduate research, community service and student organizations and Graduation with Leadership Distinction. We have dedicated tutors and staff for many academic subjects, a writing center, academic coaching for students who need an extra mentor to be academically successful, and professors who have chosen to teach at USC Lancaster primarily for their love of teaching. We address our students' well-being by providing free personal and career counseling, a food pantry and much more. With USCL Student Life, your opportunities are endless.

Conveniently located in the heart of campus, Medford Library offers resources, spaces and programs designed to support academic work, promote scholarship, enhance lifelong learning, and support library users as a whole. In addition to 59,000 print volumes, we offer over 170,000 electronic resources that can be accessed 24/7. Additionally, the library houses study spaces, study tools, and computer lab access to support the academic mission of the campus. The library also houses materials beyond traditional library offerings.

University of South Carolina Lancaster faculty bring their passion and professionalism every day to teaching, to scholarship and to service to our university and to our community. We offer a variety of online and in-person courses to meet the needs of our students and our low student to faculty ratio means more personalized instruction. We have state of the art science labs and an iCarolina Lab that provides FREE access to high-speed internet and FREE use of Apple products to students and community members.

Accredited with USC Columbia, USC Lancaster offers a wide variety of courses leading to associate degrees or easily transferring to Palmetto College or other institutions toward baccalaureate degrees. USCL's faculty are award-winning teachers, having been recognized by local, state, and national organizations for their excellence in the classroom and in their professions. In the classroom, faculty offer thoughtful lectures and assignments to help students grow, engage students in lively discussions, and provide hands-on learning experiences. Students describe our faculty as supportive, challenging, brilliant, dedicated, engaging, creative, outstanding—and these superlatives could easily apply to any one of our excellent faculty.

Opening in 1981, the Gregory Health and Wellness Center served the fitness education and exercise needs of the USC Lancaster campus and the surrounding community for 36 years. In 2017, the YMCA of Upper Palmetto took over fitness operations of the C. D. Gregory Health and Wellness Center. The partnership with the YMCA has allowed the Center to expand offerings and services, upgrade exercise equipment, and to make the future of health and wellness in Lancaster even more promising. Students, faculty, and staff enjoy a free membership to the Gregory Family YMCA and you can cheer on the Lancers women's volleyball team in the gymnasium.

The Lancers compete in baseball, men's and women's soccer and women's volleyball in the National Junior College Athletic Association and have seen much success over the years. Many of our student athletes have gone on to play at four-year institutions. Along with performance on the field, the athletics department places special emphasis on student-athlete community service and academic and personal development.

USC Lancaster developed curricular and public programs focused on Native American art and culture, with a special emphasis on Native communities in South Carolina. USCL faculty members have taught related courses along with offering internships in the Archives, the Archaeology Lab, the Collections, and the Galleries to students on campus and through USC Palmetto College. In late 2012, Native American Studies moved to Main Street. The extensive Native American Archives and Collections provide educational programming for students, faculty, visiting scholars, and the general public. The NASC is home to over 2000 different pieces of Catawba, Cherokee and Pamunkey pottery, and is home to the largest institutional collection of Catawba Indian pottery in existence.

In August 2018, USC Lancaster began offering courses at the new Indian Land Location which serves all students including dual credit and senior citizens in Indian Land and surrounding communities. The USC Lancaster Indian Land Location is the preeminent provider of non-technical higher education opportunities in the dynamic and growing panhandle region of Lancaster County. Likewise, the location hopes to better serve the growing retired population residing in and the corporate and industrial sites situated in the northern end of Lancaster County.
