Welcome to Georgetown University in Qatar. GU-Q is the Doha, Qatar campus of the world renowned Georgetown University, established in 1789 in Washington, DC. GU-Q was established in 2005 in partnership with Qatar Foundation, and offers a four-year undergraduate program in international affairs leading to a Bachelor of Science in Foreign Service degree. GU-Q is located in Education City, a 12 square kilometer campus housing some of the world's leading universities and research institutes, as well as state of the art recreation and housing facilities.

Designed to be a major gathering place for faculty, students and staff, as well as visitors, the three-story-high Atrium is flooded with natural light from above. The flags you see here hanging all around the perimeter represent the nationalities of all our students and alumni. You can come here to grab a snack or meal in our cafeteria, or lounge with friends at the casual seating area between the library and our distinctive water feature. It is also a perfect space for special events, such as formal banquets and graduation. In the Atrium, our students study, forge friendships, and make memories for a lifetime.

GU-Q offers one of the region's leading libraries for the study of international relations, with an extensive digital collection of e-books and e-journals, over 90,000 physical books, and access to an additional 3 million books from Georgetown's Washington, DC, campus. The Library also offers students a variety of study spaces, assistive technologies, research assistance, and skills training and support. This includes the Writing Center, which works with students at every stage of the writing process, from assignment to the finished draft.

Our Bachelor of Science in Foreign Service degree is delivered in state-of-the-art instructional spaces. Like this lecture hall, they offer the latest audio-visual technology, from projectors and screens to fully-integrated video and conference solutions. Our interdisciplinary faculty are passionate educators and experts in their fields, and they bring our classrooms to life! Whether your major is Culture & Politics, International Economics, International Politics, or International History, our faculty will help you master the knowledge and skills you need for a successful career.

In your free time you can hang out in our comfortable Student Lounge, which includes study spaces and thematic meeting rooms, a games area, a large-screen TV, and pantry. You can spend your time here competing in video game tournaments, watching a movie, or just relaxing on a bean bag between classes. The lounge is also a place where student clubs organize events and host distinguished guests, such as an election night gathering that featured the U.S. Ambassador to Qatar.

One of the most beautiful architectural spaces at GU-Q, the Auditorium is the preferred venue for larger events, including guest lectures, panel discussions, town hall meetings, and artistic performances. It is where New Student Convocation is held -- celebrating the university's history, traditions, and values,-- and formally initiating new students into Georgetown's academic community. This is also where Tropaia is held-- the ceremony that honors the outstanding achievements of our graduating seniors at the conclusion of their time at Georgetown.

You can maintain a healthy lifestyle by taking advantage of the GU-Q gym conveniently located in the building. From free weights, to treadmills and elipticals, the gym offers a wide range of fitness equipment, and is open to all members of the GU-Q community. Make time in your schedule to swing the battle rope, have a go at the punching bag, or get in a quick run or stretch before class. But that's not the only way to stay active. The university wellness team organizes a variety of fitness classes and meditation sessions throughout the year.

The Bookstore is the hot spot at the beginning of each semester, with students stopping by to collect their assigned textbooks. The Bookstore also offers faculty-authored publications, Georgetown branded merchandise such as t-shirts, bags, and water bottles, as well as greeting cards, and gifts for any occasion. Stop by to pick up office supplies, credit for your phone, or your very own plush ""Jack the Bulldog"" mascot.

The male and female student housing offers four different types of units, all with private bedrooms and bathrooms. Choices include single rooms, studio apartments, or one or two bedroom apartments each with a kitchenette and lounge. All units are fully furnished with bedding, Internet, a television, a study area, and modular furniture that lets students personalize their space. The housing facilities also include communal study areas, TV lounges, prayer rooms, a dining hall, and laundry facilities. Our students share the Education City residence halls with aspiring engineers, doctors, journalists, designers, and computer scientists from some of the top programs in those fields.

No visit to Education City is complete without exploring the living room of the campus, the Multaqa Student Center. One of the largest student centers in the world, Multaqa is a gathering place for students, faculty, and staff from all the universities and research centers across campus. It is a building bursting with energy, a place to connect, engage, and build community. It offers a wide variety of educational, cultural, social, and recreational activities. With a bowling alley, restaurants, coffee shops, and sports and conference facilities, the amenities offered here will greatly enrich your life on campus.

Our main entrance is a gateway to Oxygen Park, the heart of Education City. From here you can hop on the Tram which will take you all around campus, providing access to your housing, the student and recreation centers, other universities, the National Library, the Shaqab Equestrian Center, and Education City stadium-- site of the Arab World Cup and the Qatar FIFA 2022 World Cup. Our stop is also a short walk away from the Metro train station that connects you to the rest of Doha, a major center of the global economy, combining cosmopolitan sophistication with a rich cultural history.
