PNW is committed to real-world experience and hands-on learning, and nowhere is that more evident than our newest building, the Nils K. Nelson Bioscience Innovation Building. Located at the heart of our Hammond campus, this $41 million state-of-the-art facility has teaching classrooms for our nursing and biology students, including entire sections designed to look just like physicians' offices or acute care facilities. The Nelson Building reflects PNW's commitment to teaching our students skills that they can carry directly into their careers.

Welcome to campus housing! Living in PNW's University Village is a great way to build independence—and make lifelong friends. Our Hammond campus offers apartment-style housing with private bedrooms for you and your 750 new best friends. You can walk everywhere — you'll be steps from our fitness center and less than a mile from every building on campus. University Village residence halls — Peregrine and Griffin — are at the center of many campus activities. Attend movie screenings, ice cream socials, game nights and pancake study breaks without leaving home.

Founders Plaza is where the Hammond campus comes to life in warm weather! Student Union and Library Building

PNW's Student Union and Library Building is a main hub for campus life. Inside you'll find our Welcome Center–your first stop for information about what it's like to be part of the Pride! This building is also home to our cafeteria, student lounge, bookstore, library and theater. You can meet friends for lunch at the Oaken Arbor Café or take a quick study break with a game of table tennis in Calumet Falls. The library and bookstore are packed with resources to support learning, and upstairs you will find classrooms, offices for student organizations and some of PNW's top gathering spaces.

PNW Fitness Centers

From intramurals to fitness centers, PNW provides a range of opportunities for students to have fun and make progress. Our offerings include dozens of intramural sports and activities, from badminton to weight-lifting as well as fully equipped fitness centers on our Hammond and Westville campuses. Whether you're interested in group classes, cardio machines and open gyms, our fitness centers are ready to serve you, and memberships for current students are always free. PNW's Fitness Centers are also home to PNW's NCAA Division II athletic teams, which compete in sports ranging from cross-country to basketball.

PNW Production Studio

Gene Stratton Porter Hall houses radio and television studios where PNW students receive hands-on experience in audio and video production. You can work with emerging camera technologies to create various short-form documentaries and music videos. You can also gain experience in audio engineering using Avid Pro Tools, Solid State Logic, Midas and more. Broadcasting students produce programming that airs on local public media, and they have also won professional competitions like Telly, Communicator, Videographer and AVA. Our alumni work in a wide variety of media, including film, television, radio, advertising, marketing and sales. They have won Emmys, Tellys and many other prestigious awards.

Student-Focused Classrooms

Most PNW students will take a class in the Millard E. Gyte Building or Classroom Office Building. These buildings host some of the university's largest lecture halls and offer a "home base" for Engineering and Science majors as well as students pursuing a degree in PNW's College of Humanities, Education and Social Sciences. The Classroom Office Building contains the PNW Writing Center, where PNW students can find free writing support from trained peer tutors, including workshops, group sessions and electronic sessions.

PNW Athletics

Paws Up, Roar Pride! That's what we cheer as PNW teams compete in the NCAA Division II Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletics Conference (GLIAC). Purdue Northwest has 15 varsity sports, including softball, baseball, basketball, tennis, cross-country, golf, soccer, volleyball and Esports. PNW also offers club Ice Hockey. We also have club Cheer and Dance Teams, which are open to all PNW students to try out. Our athletic programs train and compete in PNW's Fitness and Recreation Centers as well as our outdoor Dowling Park facilities, where our soccer, baseball, softball and tennis teams compete.

Business and Technology Programs

The E.D. Anderson Building is home to the College of Business and PNW's College of Technology. Our College of Business is accredited by the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business and has its own dedicated Career Management center to assist students with employment after graduation. PNW's College of Technology has several hands-on spaces where students can develop the skills that make them appealing to future employers. These include an Industrial Engineering and Technology lab, an Advanced Manufacturing Lab for metal production, the Heat Transfer Lab, the polishing room and labs for computer-aided design and computer graphics.

Purdue University Northwest has a range of state-of-the-art lab settings where students can begin to build their real-world research skills. The Nils K. Nelson Bioscience Innovation Building is equipped with lab space and exam rooms that match what you will find in the best research and care facilities. At PNW, students will find dedicated lab space where they can explore topics from advanced manufacturing to fluid power. They can also build their skills with "makerspaces" in our brand-new PNW Design Studio-Where Ideas Flow, and the David Roberts Center for Innovation and Design.

Sales and Hospitality Programs

One of the best examples of PNW's commitment to hands-on learning is our White Lodging Center for Hospitality and Tourism Management. This building features a state-of-the-art beverage lab and kitchen spaces as well as a professionally equipped restaurant offering both front-of-the-house and back-of-the-house experiences. This building is also home to our White Lodging Professional Selling Lab, which lets students role-play sales scenarios to develop confidence and hands-on sales skills. The sales lab includes a flexible central classroom and six practice suites equipped with video recording technology for use in practice job interviews and classroom instruction.

Simulation Lab

The Donald Powers Building contains PNW's Center for Innovation through Visualization and Simulation (CIVS). CIVS combines advanced simulation techniques with 3-D visualization to create a completely immersive experience. This state-of-the art technology is only found on several college campuses across the United States. Students are able to coordinate with outside companies as part of their research to help solve real-world problems. Some partners include NIPSCO, Cleveland Cliffs and Community Hospital. The building also holds several computer labs, including those used for computer graphics and computer technology courses, general classrooms and our on-campus Customer Service Center for all technical support.

PNW's Westville campus is located just 15 miles from Indiana Dunes National Park. A hub of student life here is the Dworkin Student Services & Activities Complex, which features a state-of-the-art fitness center, the H.D. Kesling Gymnasium, spacious student lounges and beautiful floor-to-ceiling windows that showcase the beautiful campus setting. It's easy to see why this is a go-to place.

One of the best places to get the full view of our Westville campus is the Plaza. Students love sitting by the fountain to relax or work on their studies while enjoying the unique art pieces that surround PNW. This picture-perfect space is home to some of our favorite campus events, include our annual Welcome Weeks where students can pick up PNW swag and explore PNW's 70+ areas of study and dozens of student organizations.

Gabis Arboretum

With 300 acres of magnificent landscapes, Gabis Arboretum at Purdue Northwest offers a relaxing destination for PNW students as well as a living laboratory for education and conservation. Step into nature with prairie, woodland and wetland habitats that offer homes to wildlife including bluebirds, bees and monarch butterflies. You can stop in for the popular Summer Concert Series or drop in to hike six miles of trails, stopping for beautiful views of ponds, native plants and roses in bloom.

Dedicated resources include the Career Center, a confidential Counseling Center, Disability Access Center, Veteran Services, Health-Care Facilities and Immigration Services.
