University of Findlay's Pre-Veterinary Barn and Beckett Animal Science Building are located at the Western Equestrian Farm, about seven miles south of Findlay. The barns are an integral part of the Animal Science/Pre-Veterinary Medicine Program's unique hands-on approach. The Beckett Animal Science Building is a 31,000-square-foot facility that is filled with the University’s livestock herds, which include cattle, hogs, goats and more. Animal Science students spend much of their time at UF at the barns learning practical animal handling such as animal husbandry, care, restraint, nutrition, and animal behavior. The building includes two 50-seat classrooms, a laboratory, a pharmacy, instructional demonstration areas, holding pens, and other animal servicing areas. Findlay’s Animal Science/Pre-Veterinary Program is highly respected for its hands-on approach beginning with the freshman year. Its graduates have been accepted to all 28 veterinary schools in the United States and several internationally.

Located about a 10-minute drive from main campus, this 152-acre farm, developed by and purchased from renowned horseman Dale Wilkinson, houses both the Western Equestrian Studies Program and Animal Science Program. The Western Farm includes three indoor arenas complete with viewing areas that allow for all-season riding and training. The main arena is spacious enough to contain large pens, and accommodate cutting and trail training. Each student is assigned a large tac locker where they can store their personal gear throughout the year. The main barn has more than 200 stalls, and a smaller staff barn houses horses owned by University of Findlay staff or horses brought in for training. The farm also includes turnout pens, round pens, a sand arena, several classrooms, and student gathering spaces. The Western Equestrian Program has earned many Intercollegiate Horse Show Association national championships including back-to-back national championships in 2018 and 2019.

Whether your interests reside with dressage, hunter jumper, or eventing, the English Equestrian Farm provides a pristine facility for you to pursue your passion. Located at 11178 C.R. 201, Findlay, Ohio, the James L. Child Jr. Equestrian Complex is 32-acre farm named after the late University trustee James L. Child Jr. The facility includes a grand view of the main arena, which is one of the three indoor arenas; and a heated, indoor dressage arena with mirror-lined walls that let students see how they are moving the horse. There is also an outdoor riding field used for jumping and training as well as a cross country jumping course. The main barn has 150 stalls, tac lockers, and wash stalls. The farm also includes our Equine Veterinary Clinic, which can handle emergency and routine surgery services. The clinic offers a unique observation experience for our animal science and equestrian students.
