Tarbutton Performing Arts Center

Tarbutton is the hub of performing arts at Oxford; housing music/choral classrooms, rehearsal rooms, art and gallery space, and our black-box theater. Here, students enjoy performing in and directing theater productions, one-act plays, and musicals as early as their first semester on campus. Whether planning to major in the arts or pursuing it as a co-curricular interest, first-year students are often cast in lead roles or serve as soloists in our various music ensembles.

Pierce Hall

Pierce Hall offers students a renovated, multidisciplinary academic building for the humanities, social sciences, and mathematics. Our unique classroom experience guarantees small classes taught exclusively by Oxford's faculty from the time you step foot in your first class. Students get the benefit of working directly with Oxford's renowned faculty in both lecture and lab settings. In addition to highly accessible faculty, current students have the opportunity to serve as Supplemental Instructors, hand-selected by faculty members to assist their fellow peers by holding weekly review sessions. The Writing Center is housed in Pierce Hall and can help you with anything from a scientific to a creative writing paper. Students can also visit the Math Center for additional assistance from faculty or student tutors.

Humanities Hall

Humanities Hall is one of our many academic buildings offering a home for faculty and classes alike. It's also the site of Oxford's Humanities Hotspot, a student lounge featuring several large screens perfect for video game marathons or TV show viewing parties. At The Hotspot, you can take on your favorite professor in the annual student vs. staff gaming tournament, find Student Technical Support, or even check out cameras and use video editing software.

Johnson Hall

Built in 1874, Johnson Hall, formerly known as Language Hall, is one of the oldest buildings on campus and a reminder of the importance we place on preserving our campus history. Nevertheless, each of our buildings undergo regular renovations. So while the exterior of Johnson Hall is true to what it's looked like historically, inside you will find a modern space with large classrooms and the latest technology. Johnson Hall is also home to many of our foreign language and anthropology courses, so you can fulfill Emory University's foreign language requirement right here at Oxford - that's just one of the ways Oxford opens your mind to understand the world!

Seney Hall and Few Monument

You may recognize this Oxford-iconic building. As the main academic and administrative building on campus, Seney Hall houses classrooms and office spaces for faculty and administration. On the fourth floor, you'll find the Dean's office and the staircase entrance to the bell tower. The bell rings every hour, and once for every graduate on commencement day- a fun tradition started with some of Oxford's earliest students continuing on to the Atlanta campus. On the third floor, you'll find photo-worthy views of campus from a special room dedicated to Robert W. Woodruff, a past CEO of the Coca-Cola Company who was an Oxford student.

Williams Hall Gym Athletic Facilities

Williams Hall is the home of the Center for Healthful Living and our Athletic department. Here you'll find classrooms and athletic facilities such as basketball courts, an indoor pool, a dance studio, a weight room, and an aerobics room, open to all students, including our student athletes. Oxford offers student athletes the opportunity for intervarsity play in men's basketball and in cross country, golf, soccer, and tennis for both men and women. There is also a broad range of intramural sports for all students to choose from, including volleyball, basketball, and soccer. Oxford's gym and residential halls provide spaces where students can exercise and keep fit.

Nature Trail

On the west border of campus, a nature walking trail winds through the woods. Faculty utilize the outdoor classroom at the entrance of the trail to take their students outside on nice days. The field botany classes get hands-on learning by utilizing the trail's vegetation, and Oxford students take advantage of the meditation circle to enjoy the serenity of the trail itself.

Chapel

While Oxford was originally founded as a Methodist institution, today every major world religion is represented on campus. Oxford has several services to support and celebrate our students' different religious backgrounds. The Chapel is a community gathering spot for secular and religious meetings; so while there are large events in the Chapel, every religious life organization can utilize the Chapel for their services. Our campus Chaplain oversees religious life on campus and also acts as a resource for students.

Library

The Oxford library is designed to be a collaborative environment for students, faculty, and staff. Here you can study or grab a coffee, tea, or bite to eat in Oxpresso Café. This is one of eleven libraries throughout the Emory University system. If the library does not have a book or journal that you need, you can request it to be sent here from any Emory library. Open 24/7, the library offers ample group study rooms and computer lab spaces as well as two classrooms upstairs.

Phi Gamma

Phi Gamma Hall is Emory's oldest academic building. Throughout Emory's history, Phi Gamma has served a number of functions. The space was once a Civil War hospital, and legend has it that the spirit of a kind nurse still haunts the space, covering sleeping students with blankets. Phi Gamma also housed Oxford's debate hall, and the society's members were known to shout their debates from the steps of the building. Currently, it is a meeting space for students, staff, and faculty to hold all sorts of community events.

Oxford Science Building

Built in 2015, the building features state of the art classrooms and lab spaces. The building was designed with input from faculty members about how they wanted their classrooms and labs spaces structured for teaching. Research happens in each discipline across Oxford's campus, and it's common for first-year students to gain hands on experience through research. Some students apply to stay to conduct summer research here, too. In the center of the building you will find the Nucleus, a popular spot for students to study. The staircases even light up like DNA strands from the outside of the building if you pass by at night!

Outdoor Classroom

Behind the Science Building, you will find our own outdoor classroom or amphitheater. Oxford professors enjoy teaching beyond the four walls of a classroom, and you may find them out here facilitating class on a beautiful Georgia day. Students also enjoy using the space for concerts, poetry readings, or just a nice place to hang out and study.

Student Center

The Oxford Student Center is the newest addition to campus and serves as a hub for student life. As you enter the building, you step into a soaring, light-filled grand hall, where you can gather in comfortable seating and enjoy the indoor fireplace. This is one of the many areas to enjoy within the Student Center. Student clubs can meet in the Abinta Kabir Student Organization Space, nicknamed the Club Hub, to hang out, plan student events or create something new with a variety of tools and craft equipment. The HotSpot is our video-gaming room, with pods for group and individual console gaming and space for table-top games with friends. The Greer Forum features flexible furniture and a stage for student performances. It's connected to the Mural Room, named for its signature mural - inspired by Oxford's quad - commissioned by Atlanta artist and Emory alumnus, Peter Ferrari. The Student Center also houses the Gilbert Family Bookstore, managed by Barnes & Noble, as well as the Jackson Family Kitchen, a café offering food into the late hours of the evening. Other unique spaces for students to hang out and enjoy include a student lounge, an outdoor deck overlooking the Hearn Nature Trail, and an outdoor fireplace and plaza.

Dining Hall

Oxford's Dining Hall opened in January 2017 and offers our entire community a place to eat together. You'll frequently see the Dean or other faculty and staff enjoying the same farm-to-table dining options and treats as the students do. From vegan to gluten-free choices to our late night OxGrill, open from 9 pm to 1 am, we're sure to have something that suits your appetite. Oxford Dining also promotes sustainability: It is committed to Emory University's waste-diversion program and implemented a zero-waste initiative. On top of its commitment to zero-waste, the dining hall strives to serve at least 50 percent local and/or sustainable food, including fruits and vegetables from Oxford's own organic farm.

Residential Halls East West Village

Oxford is a fully-residential college; housing all students on campus during their first and second year here. All buildings are shared by first and second-year students, so you're sure to build a great community in your hall. Oxford's East Village includes Fleming, Elizer, and Murdy. The West Village comprises Haygood Hall and the Jolley Residential Center. When you choose to attend Oxford, you'll complete a housing survey to find your compatible roommate and building. No matter which complex becomes your home, you'll enjoy similar amenities like kitchens, fitness centers, lounge spaces, complimentary laundry, and study rooms. You'll also have the support of a number of Resident Assistants and a full-time, live-in Residence Life Coordinator.

Fleming

While each building is set up differently, Fleming is divided by wing based on gender. Most students here live in doubles with one other roommate. On campus, all residential rooms have similar amenities, including individual climate-control, storage space, and a sink. Each roommate gets a bed, obviously, and their own set of furniture. The layout is flexible, so you can customize the space to your liking by raising or lowering the beds and rearranging the furniture. In addition to the standard facilities of all of our complexes, like free laundry, lounges, and a kitchen, Fleming also features a large patio overlooking its courtyard perfect for studying or hanging out.

Murdy Residential Area

The green space between Elizer and Murdy Hall is known as Murdy Courtyard. Students enjoy using this space to study, or just soak up some vitamin D on a sunny day. Murdy Courtyard is also the site for entrance to Student Health Services, staffed by nurse practitioners and a physician who address everything from primary care to ongoing medical needs. Similarly, you will find Oxford's Counseling and Career Services office off the Murdy Courtyard. Here you can receive complimentary services like personal counseling or help with internship searches and resumes. The office is staffed by a Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner and additional personnel trained and licensed in psychotherapy and career counseling.

Oxford College Organic Farm

Just down the road from Oxford's main campus, you'll find The Oxford College Organic Farm. This piece of land was given to Oxford by an alumnus in 2011, and the farm opened in 2014 and quickly earned a spot on the list of Top 30 Sustainable College-Run Farms. Much of the produce from the farm is served at the Dining Hall. It's also sold at Emory's farmers market on the Atlanta campus and to local residents. Many Oxford faculty members incorporate the farm into courses like sociology, biology, philosophy, environmental science and wellness. Students provide much of the farm's labor, some as paid student workers, but many volunteer on the farm just for fun!
